Really not what we needed. Form is going south at a disturbing rate - batting needs to start showing application in the absence of Butler and/ore Kearsley during the Tests.

I strongly dispute the assertion of the dressing room brawl. Not only was Liam many miles away from the incident when it occurred, but Kears is so tiny that no-one would start a fight with him out of principle, and he'd never start on anyone out of fear of being eaten/sat on.

What actually happened was he fell over his kit bag and whacked his head on the bench...
yes and im a uncle of a englishman.....:P
(infact i am :P

Nice to see a fielding batsman join the ranks. :) Welcome change from the usual pure bat / pure bowl / amazing all rounder.

Just afraid of a little competition are ye simon? ;) I don't mind a few specialists here and there, as long as there isn't 400 ridiculous allrounders who bat at 35 and bowl at 25 :S
I think we're all agreed that the number of all rounders is ridiculous.

Yes, we were suffering a big loss in players for the Invitational game - hence Dave going in at 7!!!

I think it's the S/R effect.
Also an effect of bowling and batting averages counterbalancing each other. You can't have eleven bowlers averaging 20-25 and eleven batsmen averaging in their 30's and 40's... at least, not without a lot of extremely bad part time bowling. :p

So is that drawn OD going to stand with just one point to each? Surely something will be done to ammend this? If you need a new spreadsheet I'll be happy to write one up. Or you could just give us 2.5 bonus points instead of the one... but it shouldn't just be "tough luck". Both teams basically just suffered a close-matched loss. :p

It will be reviewed if it will affect the standings significantly heading into the final regular season OD game.

CW Red v CW Green
at the CWBCC Stadium

The quality batsmanship of Andrew Garven was the focal point of Green's score of 282/6, one which was easily defended, despite a bustling half-century by Håkon Mørk. Garven was denied a maiden OD hundred by Sean Bennett, but played well for a new career-high.

Bennett was indeed the pick of the Red bowlers, varying his flight and pace regularly to strangle the middle order somewhat. When time came to bat though, he was the first to go, as Nathan Hoy and Bryce Cunningham claimed 2 wickets each to limit the top order to 63/4.

Dauth and Dobson then set about to rebuild positively, but both were out to injudicious shots. Mørk settled in with good strike rotation, then tried admirably to accelerate in a lost cause at the end. He did accomplish a career-high.

Man of the Match: AJ Garven

CW Blue v CW Black
at the SCG

CW Black all but laughed the Blues out of the Sydney Cricket Ground, with a huge soul-crushing victory over their rivals of last season. If not for a sharp bouncer from Demeza to Chaulk on 99, the Blacks would have accomplished a rare 10-wicket victory, chasing 235 with an opening stand of 219.

Chaulk was denied a century yet again this season, but certainly gave a good account of himself. His partner Loc, though, did bring the goods. His milestone represented an unmatched 5th OD hundred of the season, and he was unbeaten at the end.

The Blacks earlier inserted Blue and had to work to split the opening stand of 77 between Camps and Cloete. The breakthrough did come though, and the Blues never really accelerated from a good platform. Cloete did score a half-century and de Silva was unbeaten on one of his own, but great death bowling by all involved ended the innings in disappointment - 234/7.

Man of the Match: AC Loc

Cricket Web Red has been officially eliminated from the race to become Season 8 OD Champion. The team is still in contention for the Chef de Groot Trophy however.

The incredible race between Black and Green is definitely going down to the wire. Green does have the advantage of the tied game review though.

How important may this fixture be?

Great win there guys, very happy with my highest OD score, good batting also from Malone and Walsh to get us to 282. with our bowling that never looked like being troubled, 4 more wickets from Hoy, 2 from cunningham and 1 from the rest of the bowlers saw us bowl them out pretty quickly, despite a top half century to Moerk down the order. Lets keep it going and finish the season on a high :)
