Bad luck, Reds - 25Smash is a bit of a joke anyway. (Though it is a refreshing break from FC and OD)

My top score - 62 :(

not with a negative attitude like that from a senior player.
well its a fact, our form is pathetic, false hope wont lift us out of this slump, good performances will, ive always said how i feel, i enjoyed last season when we were winning all the time, however the high turn over of players has hurt us, but that doesnt mean we shouldnt be competitive...

now if u dont mind, id like to win a few more games before the season ends...

Yeah, but form never rises if the entire outfit has slumped down shoulders and heads because we simply "can't play". We know we can play, we have shown that we are a more than decent outfit when -it does- infact work. What we have to do is -make- it work. Making it work doesn't come from negativity, it comes from working real hard and keeping your heads up.

All i'm saying is by keeping the heads up, and reducing the negativity should take us back to the winners circle more often.

We all want to win, no one wants to lose a game of cricket, that would just be wrong ;)

**25Smash Season 8 Final**

Cricket Web Black v Cricket Web Green
at the CW Oval

Here we are for the grand finale of this spectacle of cricket. It's been a thrilling yet brief ride to this point and now we are left with, perhaps predictably, Black and Green as the finalists. Season 7 saw Green take the title with a close 2-run win over spirited Red, and we can only hope for more of the same thrilling action here today.

Andrew Garven has won the toss and has elected to take first strike.

0.1 Bhatia to Goff, FOUR, Simply cracked back over the bowlers head to the ropes. Big intent!
0.2 Bhatia to Goff, no run, Defensively played by BJ Goff
0.3 Bhatia to Goff, no run, Appeal for LBW, a bit too optimistic though
0.4 Bhatia to Goff, no run, BJ Goff missed that one by a mile
0.5 Bhatia to Goff, OUT, What a brilliant catch by CR Butler at short point!

BJ Goff 4 (5b 1X4)
c. Butler b. Bhatia
Great start for Black, as they remove the big man in the Green lineup. That was hit powerfully!

0.6 Bhatia to Feeney, wide, The umpire being a bit rough on S Bhatia, giving that a wide
0.6 Bhatia to Feeney, no run, Defensively played by A Feeney

End of over 1 (5 runs)
CRICKET WEB GREEN 5/1
(R/R: 5.00)
S Bhatia 1.0-0-5-1
A Feeney 0(2b)
RJ Malone 0(0b)

1.1 Wilson to Malone, FOUR, Driven beautifully down the ground and away for FOUR
1.2 Wilson to Malone, one run, That is very well run by A Feeney
1.3 Wilson to Feeney, no run, Pushed to short point
1.4 Wilson to Feeney, no run, Pushed hard back to the bowler
1.5 Wilson to Feeney, one run, That was a very risky single. Off the mark.
1.6 Wilson to Malone, OUT, Z Mohammed takes an easy catch to dismiss RJ Malone

RJ Malone 5 (3b 1X4)
c. Mohammed b. Wilson
That was a pretty loose shot by Malone there. No footwork really and just a wild slash. He ended up spooning the ball to extra cover.

End of over 2 (6 runs)
CRICKET WEB GREEN 11/2
(R/R: 5.50)
MW Wilson 1.0-0-6-1
DP Towns 0(0b)
A Feeney 1(5b)
---
2.3 Bhatia to Towns, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by S Bhatia, deserving this punishment
---
5.6 Richards to Feeney, FOUR, Good footwork and sublime placement through the onside field.

End of over 6 (5 runs)
CRICKET WEB GREEN 30/2
---
7.3 Hing to Feeney, FOUR, Brilliant cover drive by A Feeney
---
7.6 Hing to Towns, one run, Dropped! Bhatia made a big mess of that simple chance at midoff. A single taken too.
---
8.1 Wilson to Towns, FOUR, Smacked over point and it bisects the fielders on the rope
---
9.1 Mohammed to Feeney, FOUR, Slower ball picked and lofted back down the ground... two bounces...
---
11.4 Mohammed to Towns, FOUR, Thunderous pull stroke! FOUR more!
---
12.4 Bhatia to Towns, FOUR, Guided through where first slip would have been
---
13.6 Richards to Feeney, FOUR, Swept from a foot outside off stump. Interesting but effective shot.
---
14.2 Bhatia to Towns, OUT, AC Loc takes an easy catch to dismiss DP Towns

DP Towns 35 (47b 4X4)
c. Loc b. Bhatia
A bit of indecision there and it resulted in a leading edge to cover. Towns departs having played a big role in rebuilding this innings after the disastrous start.
14.3 Bhatia to Walsh, three runs, Great work by Richards saved a certain boundary
14.4 Bhatia to Feeney, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by S Bhatia, deserving this punishment
14.5 Bhatia to Feeney, FOUR, Brilliant cover drive by A Feeney
14.6 Bhatia to Feeney, no run, Pushed hard back to the bowler

End of over 15 (11 runs)
CRICKET WEB GREEN 91/3
(R/R: 6.07)
S Bhatia 4.0-0-26-2
A Feeney 41(35b 6X4)
CN Walsh 3(1b)
---
16.4 Pickup to Feeney, OUT, What a brilliant catch by S Bhatia

A Feeney 44 (41b 6X4)
c. Bhatia b. Pickup
Feeney decided it time to go and went down to meet Pickup on that one. He didn't quite get ahold of it and Bhatia has taken a blinder at longon.
---
19.6 Kearsley to Walsh, FOUR, DA Kearsley cant belive it - inside edge past legstump and away.
---
21.3 Butler to Garven, SIX, What a six!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He took that from two feet outside offstump and just swung it away effortlessly over midwicket!
---
24.1 Bhatia to Garven, three runs, Excellent running 3 more
24.2 Bhatia to Walsh, FOUR, Timed beautifully through the covers for a boundary!
24.3 Bhatia to Walsh, no run, Appeal for LBW, a bit too optimistic though
24.4 Bhatia to Walsh, one run, That is very well run by AJ Garven
24.5 Bhatia to Garven, FOUR, S Bhatia cant belive it - he shuffled across outside offstump and clipped that yorker past his legstump for FOUR
24.6 Bhatia to Garven, wide, S Bhatia bowling a very wayward one - good take behind the stumps
24.6 Bhatia to Garven, no run, AJ Garven was completely deceived by a great slower ball to finish off

End of over 25 (13 runs)
CRICKET WEB GREEN 144/4
(R/R: 5.76)
S Bhatia 5.0-0-39-2
AJ Garven 27(26b 1X4 1X6)
CN Walsh 25(30b 2X4)

That's a fair bit less than Green would have been hoping for, but it's still a commendable total, given that the two leading batsmen were out within the first 12 balls of the game. There was perhaps not enough carry toward the end of the innings, but it should still be a challenging total, given the strength of Green's bowling.

Well we're all set for the start of the Black chase. They'll be pretty confident in chasing 145 for victory, but they'll meet some quality pace bowling on their way there. Here we go...

0.1 Timewell to Loc, no run, Defensively played by AC Loc - good start for Timewell
0.2 Timewell to Loc, one run, That is very well run by AP Chaulk to get his junior partner off the mark
0.3 Timewell to Chaulk, one run, That was a very risky single, but Chaulk is away.
0.4 Timewell to Loc, one run, The misfield by Garven allows yet another run
0.5 Timewell to Chaulk, two runs, Took the first one quickly the second was no problem
0.6 Timewell to Chaulk, FOUR, Brilliant cover drive by AP Chaulk

End of over 1 (9 runs)
CW BLACK 9/0
(R/R: 9.00 R/R Req: 5.67)
R Timewell 1.0-0-9-0
AP Chaulk 7(3b 1X4)
AC Loc 2(3b)
Not a bad over by Timewell, but the urgency of Black was evident enough to take 9 from it.
---
4.3 Timewell to Loc, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by R Timewell, deserving this punishment
4.4 Timewell to Loc, FOUR, Same shot, better execution! Cut away!
---
5.1 Hoy to Chaulk, FOUR, Clipped over midwicket's head and away to the ropes!
5.2 Hoy to Chaulk, no run, Defensively played by AP Chaulk
5.3 Hoy to Chaulk, no run, Left alone by AP Chaulk
5.4 Hoy to Chaulk, FOUR, Flashing off the edge and it beats third man to the ropes!
---
9.2 Hoy to Loc, one run, Dropped! Hoy made a big mess of that simple return chance. Great slower ball that.
---
10.1 Rose to Loc, FOUR, XPA Rose cant belive it - Top-edged hook that lands behind the 'keeper and runs away
10.2 Rose to Loc, OUT, Lack of communicatin between Loc and Chaulk leads to the breakthrough

AC Loc 25 (32b 3X4)
run out (Malone)
That's unfortunate, becauseb the young man looked in pretty good touch today. Green have made the first inroad and will look to maximize upon it now.
Chris Butler is in...
10.3 Rose to Butler, one run, The misfield by Towns allows him his first run
10.4 Rose to Chaulk, OUT, Thick edge well taken by Garven

AP Chaulk 23 (31b 3X4)
c. Garven b. Rose
Pretty loose shot there and Green is right back in this game. Another batsmen getting in and then getting out and Green will look for another wicket to truly crank the pressure up.

10.5 Rose to Kearsley, no run, Left alone by DA Kearsley
10.6 Rose to Kearsley, no run, Appeal for LBW, a bit too optimistic though

End of over 11 (5 runs)
CW BLACK 49/2
(R/R: 4.45 R/R Req: 6.86)
XPA Rose 3.0-0-10-1
DA Kearsley 0(2b)
CR Butler 1(1b)
---
12.1 Rose to Kearsley, FOUR, Flicked away with top timing
---
The required run rate now at 7.25. Green turning the screws slightly...
13.1 Verghese to Kearsley, FOUR, A little bit of room and he just crashed the ball through the offside
13.2 Verghese to Kearsley, no run, DA Kearsley missed that one by a mile with that attempted slog sweep
13.3 Verghese to Kearsley, one run, That is very well run by CR Butler
13.4 Verghese to Butler, FOUR, Short and wide and cut away!!
13.5 Verghese to Butler, wide, Thats going down the leg side, a wide no doubt
13.5 Verghese to Butler, FOUR, Swept very fine and past the diving Towns
13.6 Verghese to Butler, no run, Defended calmly

End of over 14 (14 runs)
CW BLACK 72/2
(R/R: 5.14 R/R Req: 6.64)
RG Verghese 2.0-0-16-0
CR Butler 11(13b 2X4)
DA Kearsley 12(9b 2X4)
That over has to hurt Green a lot. They most definitely did not need that and you'd think the momentum is definitely all Black now.
---
15.5 Feeney to Butler, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by A Feeney, deserving this punishment
---
16.5 Malone to Kearsley, FOUR, That was a bad delivery by RJ Malone, deserving this punishment
---
17.1 Feeney to Kearsley, SIX, ???!!! Its coming towards the commentary box Im leaving!!!
---
Now it's 7.43 per over needed. Malone has been good so far. He continues...
18.1 Malone to Kearsley, no run, Appeal for LBW, a bit too optimistic though
18.2 Malone to Kearsley, SIX, What a six!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stand and deliver! Miles back over long on!
18.3 Malone to Kearsley, three runs, Great work by Walsh saved a certain boundary
18.4 Malone to Butler, FOUR, Driven GLORIOUSLY through the offside! Brilliant placement and timing!
18.5 Malone to Butler, no run, That ball was a mystery to the batsman
18.6 Malone to Butler, FOUR, Down the track and hammered straight for FOUR!

End of over 19 (17 runs)
CW BLACK 110/2
(R/R: 5.79 R/R Req: 5.83)
RJ Malone 3.0-0-24-0
CR Butler 25(29b 5X4)
DA Kearsley 35(24b 3X4 2X6)
Huge over that! Now everything is very much more manageable for Black. Malone and Green have to be disappointed with that over, as these two are really turning this game around.
---
19.1 Verghese to Kearsley, SIX, Footwork and BANG! Kearlsey goes for it again and I think he's lost the ball!
---
20.2 Timewell to Butler, one run, Dropped! Towns made a big mess of that simple chance at short extra cover. He was put there for that and he's floored it.
---
20.5 Timewell to Kearsley, FOUR, Brilliant cover drive by DA Kearsley. What placement!
20.6 Timewell to Kearsley, OUT, CN Walsh takes an easy catch to dismiss DA Kearsley and the fantastic knock comes to a close

DA Kearsley 47 (31b 4X4 3X6)
c. Walsh b. Timewell

End of over 21 (5 runs)
CW BLACK 125/3
(R/R: 5.95 R/R Req: 5.00)
R Timewell 4.0-0-26-1
A Blackman 0(0b)
CR Butler 28(34b 5X4)
He didn't get that one out of the middle and Walsh just had to reach up at midwicket to take the catch. Tremendously effective knock though, as Kearsley has almost single-handedly swung the game to Black.
---
Green needs an over from one of the lesser bowlers now. Feeney returns...
21.1 Feeney to Butler, one run, That is very well run by A Blackman
21.2 Feeney to Blackman, one run, That is very well run by CR Butler
21.3 Feeney to Butler, SIX, ???!!! Its coming towards the commentary box Im leaving!!!
21.4 Feeney to Butler, no run, Left alone by CR Butler
21.5 Feeney to Butler, FOUR, Down the track again! This time it bounces once for FOUR
21.6 Feeney to Butler, one run, One more to the total

End of over 22 (13 runs)
CW BLACK 138/3
(R/R: 6.27 R/R Req: 2.33)
A Feeney 3.0-0-27-0
A Blackman 1(1b)
CR Butler 40(39b 6X4 1X6)
The end is very near!
---
22.6 Rose to Blackman, two runs, Overthrow by Cunningham instead of 1 they get 2 and that extra run wins the game. Not the best way for Green to finish things, but a deserved win for Black.

End of over 23 (7 runs)
CW BLACK 145/3
(R/R: 6.30 R/R Req: 0.00)
XPA Rose 5.0-0-24-1
A Blackman 4(4b)
CR Butler 44(42b 6X4 1X6)

So Cricket Web Black unseats Green as the 25Smash Champions, taking the first silverware of Season 8. They're ectstatic right now and jumping up and down in their team huddle, whilst the crowd rages on in the background. What atmosphere!

The Man of the Match has been awared to none other than David Kearsley. No real surprise though, as he really did all but win the game for Black.

Gutted.

It seems acceleration has become a thing of the past for us at CW Green. :( Sorry about my relatively slow paced innings. That along with the two massive early wickets cost us the match... and the title. I guess that means we can't make a complete sweep of the titles this season and will have to settle for just two...

Well played, Black.

EDIT: Seems we forgot to bowl Cunningham on a wicket that the pace bowlers were doing well and the spinners not so well... :(

Yeah GO Blacks!

Well done lads, first trophy of the season, great bowling all round to restrict them and then fantastic batting by Buts, and Kears in particular.

Lets get the momentum going in the other forms now!

I was set for a second consecutive jumping off the balcony to celebrate the win but it wasn't to be.

Oh well at least I can get back to playing the 5D stuff settled for some cricket.

Congratulations Black 2 worthy winners of 2 brilliant Smash trophys.

Delighted to pick up the first trophy of the season :D

Crucial to get those early wickets, and great stuff from the slower bowlers to tie it up mid-innings, also nice on a personal note to remove that Feeney. And, erm, well batted again to Kears - I guess you win the number four argument permanently. Feel free to correct any other selection decisions :D

GO BLACKS!

Anyone fancy making up a black team song?
