19 from 22 , not too shabby fella.

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

It's funny to think that folk believe that a bit of left arm spin will beat Steve, he'll fill his boots surely.

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

This is true. But the lack of imagination by the bowling attack could maybe benefit from a traditional approach. If by this you mean Mr Smith being the other 1%

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Presumably it would come as something of a surprise to the batsman and they may not know how to deal with it, maybe expecting a Yorker, they will get out. It's worth a try I think.

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Is there any merit in bowling full and at the stumps any more?

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

This feels very much like the '93 test. England will break through this afternoon but be bowled out cheap. Australia will declare in the second innings,Labs and Smithy get 100 , leaving England to flail around like a fish on the floor whilst the ball turns corners. Well played Australia.

Who had a better Old Tafford Ashes Debut, Craig Overton or UK Kiwi Andy Caddick. One of them went on to have a decent test career, the other.....time alone will tell.

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Not to take anything away from the genius that is Steve Smith, but any test batsman should be able to put away and leave the pile of poop that England bowled. No pace, too short, half volleys.....flippin eck. Labuschagne played beautifully once again. Any other South Africans want a job? Your...

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

I couldn't agree more, with the removal of captaincy. Then he may be back in the top 10. Weather update. Not a cloud in the sky and 18c right now with a light breeze. But that's down here in Cornwall, move the Test to Taunton everyone knows the west country had the best of the sun.

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Ugh, no surprise there. I think England have to bat first, If we cant bowl Steve out then maybe scoreboard pressure may make him do it for us. One job, see of Pat and the new ball then wade into them. I'm an optimist.

Well it's a bat first day down here , sunshine and blue sky. Any one know what it's like in Manchester?

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Hes a class opener, a proper test batsman. If he never broke his finger in India he would be a well established England player. I like him and he is better to open than Jason. In all honesty I was fishing around to create a strong potential test winning side, something the selectors seemed to...

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

What the batting line up needs is to grow a pair. Good bowling is just that, but patience is the key. Hameed is welcome to come and play down here anytime he likes. I notice you didn't find fault with the rest of my team. It's out there and has lots of utility, something that's sadly lacking in...

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Woakes 29.2 Overton 24.5 I pick Woakes, Just because the (inept) captain has lost faith in him is no reason for deselection. We lost the last Test he played in, and this one looks pretty darn shakey too.

4th Test at Old Trafford, Manchester

Ugh, Just typed up a long reply and it vanished like Joe Roots tactical ability. I picked a team for Headingley and funnily enough I had no reply from the selectors. It was a bit random, but not nearly as comical as the line up for tomorrow. It was Hameed Burns Roy Root Stokes (I picked him...
