    **Official** England in New Zealand

The ICC Rankings are just an extremely comprehensive form guide and are heavily flawed. Despite this I agree with you completely on James Anderson. James anderson is a match winning bowler and in the summer against an incredible Indian Batting Line up was the best bowler by far (discounting...

    Stuart Law/ Ricky Pointing

What i'm trying to say is that he should have developed a fantastic international career even in this era. I believe he is a much better batsmen than Katich and could have given Damien Martyn and Mark waugh a run for their money as well. I don't know of a player who has a better cut shoot than...

    Stuart Law/ Ricky Pointing

As a Lancashire fan who has seen probably even more of Stuart Law than Ricky Ponting, I've always found it amazing that this unbelievable player failed to make the team. Every time I've been to Old Traffor he has made the best Championship attacks look very average when the likes of Loye...

    A Tribute To Adam Gilchrist

A truly marvellous player who always had a fear factor about him whenever he came out to bat. A spectacular one day opener who was magnificent in the World Cups. My two favourite innings's from him are his 140-odd at Hobart against a superb Pakistan attack in his second Test Match. The other is...

XI's that play for your life

Well out of players I have seen (1996 onwards) 1 - M.Hayden(I know he's agressive but he's by far and away the best opener I have seen) 2 - M.Atherton(Anyone remember his famous Jo'burg innings and his many heroic acts for England) 3 - R.Dravid(They don't call him 'The Wall' for nothing) 4 -...

    What should Ishant work on?

He needs to set his sights a bit higher than Steve Harmison. Ideally he could be as good as a Javagal Srinath.

***Official*** West Indies in Zimbabwe and South Africa

A magnificent innings today by JP Duminy. Lovely powerful but legitmiate drives both sides of the wicket and he produced this innings with South Africa in a crisis situation. He is most certainly one to watch. A solid but expected win for South Africa. I fully expext them to gon and win this...

    Best English Batsman Since 1990?

Also, Gough was the only different bowler of the team. Caddick, Cork and Fraser were all a bit too samey and Gough was the only feared bowler of the 1990's. Gough's bowling in the dead pitches of Sri Lanka in 2001(i think) was truely magnificent when everything was a against him. Yes I'd rate...

    Best English Batsman Since 1990?

I think we had a potentially great bowler in Gough but those match winning performances came round far too rarely for me. He had everythhing except height that you want in fast bowler.

    Best English Batsman Since 1990?

I've seen a lot of all three of those batsmen mentioned and Atherton wins it by a mile. Its a toss up between Stewart and Trescothick. I have such a huge admiration for the dogged innings's Atherton produced when England were staring down the barrel (happened far too often) and that forward...

    Best English Batsman Since 1990?

Difficult choice between Gooch and Thorpe for me. Probably Gooch just shades it.

Shaun Pollock retires from International Cricket

The only words I can use to describe how good Shaun Pollock was is hat he is a better bowler than his uncle is a batsman. A truly wonderful bowler.

    Boucher vs Gilchrist - Wicketkeeping

Whats that got to do with keeping ability?
  17. garypleavin

    Boucher vs Gilchrist - Wicketkeeping

I for one believe that Gilchrist's keeping is very underrated and is unfairly criticised at times probably because he had to follow an almost flawless Ian Healy. He may not be Healy when it comes to keeping but I still rate him a whisker ahead of Boucher.

    Mahela Jayawardene very underrated.

I'm not really sure if you can call him underrated because many people believe that he is a very good test batsman. One look at the stats will always tell you that, but his record all over the world doesn't match up at all to his home average. That is the sole reason why many don't rate him...
