*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

I know you all ignored me about Katich but as a Lancs fan on our march back to Div 1 I thought I would again mention Katich. 100 off 86 balls. Seems very un-Katich like but really glad Aus didn't call him up at any point.

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

Simon Katich just passed 1000 runs for Lancs this season. Good lad. Glad he didn't get a call up, he has looked in top nick the few times I've seen him this season. Thats a 1000 in Championship Cricket *

Anyone else think Michael Vaughan is trying to become the next Bumble?

Pietersen going after Smith early and not letting him settle would be ok. However 150/2 off 70 overs doesn't really allow you that luxury.

Who is in charge of the ODI team? No coincidence.

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

Things happen, the other team just get a burst of energy, things are going against you and everything is going the other teams way. You have to scratch around and try and stay in there till things go your way. These sections of play happen more often and in favour of Australia when we...

He seems a very defensive person. I don't think it's what this England team needs to flourish. Players like Pietersen, Root & Prior haven't had the best of series and they are all scoring at much slower rates than they are used to/can comfortably do. There is room for someone to drop anchor...

Or maybe he's just come in and feeling the pressure because we have gone at a snail pace so doesn't want to take any chances?

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

Why? Because I think his bowling is half decent in a one-day game as a fourth seamer/someone who can hold a bat and bat seven or eight in the ODI team. I'd much rather Woakes than that absolute tw@t Dernbach.

I agree with Warne. Cook is like an illegitimate heir to the throne. He was the only bloke they could give it to really and he got it. We beat India due to them being absolutely turd and we have beaten Australia so everyone thinks that means you can't find a weak point. That's what Cook...

That Grant Elliott run-out (and other stories)

I collided with long off last weekend when we were both going for the ball that was between us (I was fielding at long on). I stopped the ball but we both went to ground. The batsmen continued to run between the wickets whilst we were on the floor (granted it was only an extra run but they...

His stats are currently but I think he will make a decent one for England. What I meant - apologies.

Faulkner reminds me of Woakes in the fact I think he is a decent one day cricketer but can't see him doing much at test level.

Problem with this sort of debate is you can't judge loss of wickets. I would rather be 330/3 at the end of the day than 230/2. But we could easily be 230/8 or we could be 330 all out? Batting time does not equal no loss of wickets. What I'm trying to get out is we bat time, we still lose...

Root is batting really well - no doubt about that. Brings it back to though that England promoting Root has brought about this problem really. Or were we just blessed with Strauss as this problem has been apparent since he retired?

*Official* Fifth Test at The Oval

It's not about wanting to be entertained. We've batted for 44 overs at a snail pace. Add two quick wickets onto the score and we are still 195 away from the follow on score. Your allowing Clarke to keep relatively attacking fields as he still has a 400 run lead to play with instead of 350...

Perspective being I want us to be the best we can, and I think we can be better and dominating other teams. We have the skills and players to do that. It's Sport, not everyone has to tow the party line.

Owing to Broad/Anderson/Swann and Australia suffering a collapse or too. Not down to our batting I would say.

It's a team approach, not just having a pop at Root. It's so negative and we are creating problems for ourselves. It seems our first approach is to not lose before we think about winning. Just don't like Cook as a captain TBH.
