    Advancement in bat technology

Reckon this is the biggest difference. Back in the day you had to hit the ball perfectly in the middle to go the distance. These days nearly the whole bat is middle and mis-hit 6s are common

Wonder if it's a coincidence it happens when Cummins is away hmmmm

In fairness Aus did use 8 bowlers last game Marnus and Head took hauls this series which is like Plan G

*Official* Australia limited overs tour of Scotland and England 2024

Reckon there are at least 30 to 40 bowlers ahead of Beardman. That's a conservative estimate. Likewise don't think Dwarshuis would be in the top 10 after Starc/Cummins/Haze If we had to pick a World Cup squad without those 3 my choices would be Bartlett, Ellis, Johnson, Richardson and Neser as...

Tbf a lot of them actually are injured. Bartlett, Ellis, Meredith and I think Spencer Johnson. But behrendorff, Neser, Lance morris and jhye Richardson all seem to be playing. Then there are still plenty of others who would be ahead of the likes of Dwarshuis who was in the squad like Sutherland...

Which is bigger - The Ashes or BGT?

Also ironic considering the only Tests England generally managed to win on those 90s/early00s series tended to be dead rubbers Is there even a (real) stat that shows a higher percentage of Australia's wins are dead rubbers compared to England's?

Highest debut score to not be selected.

England probably trying to do a Jofra and poach him and convinced him to make himself unavailable for Scotland. It's the only way they stay somewhat competitive tbf

Definitely not wrong about quicks being fragile but other than Abbott we didn't really see Australia's pace back up this series though, did we? They played Hardie as a bowler for some reason (guess he did ok) and relied on a lot of overs from all rounders like Green. They're mostly in Australia...

Road to India in Australia 2024-25

Use the opportunity to drop Lyon and play 4 quicks + part-time spinners, and actually prepare hard bouncy pace-friendly wickets for once

If another team did it we'd be discussing it more, but it's England. By their standards that's not even scraping the surface of standard cheating protocols

I always suspected Wait you mean his bowling

When Lyon can't play just use Head as a spinner. No need to **** around and waste a spot with Murphy, Kuhnemann or Swepson. Especially if it's not a big spinners wicket Semi srs

Head's bowling is underrated AF. Always seems to pick up wickets on the rare occasion he has a trundle

*Official* Australia limited overs tour of Scotland and England 2024

By default I think. Wasn't picked as one in the squad but with the balance of players they have available that's the role they've needed him to fill It's dumb though he is at best a batsman who can bowl an over here or there. Even then he's nowhere near good enough to be in a national squad...

He's got pretty serious kidney disease. Would be enough to **** with anything and make recovery from injuries a lot harder in general I would assume

Road to India in Australia 2024-25

He's averaged like 20 in his last dozen tests. You're confusing white ball and red ball cricket

best team in world cricket right now

Didn't even know he was playing tbh, I've been **** talking him for years

best team in world cricket right now

Root is way better than Smith now. Over their careers no, but the last few years easily
