    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

Vaas was 2004 actually, and maybe he got past his prime cuz he didn't have Hayden and Langer to bash the new ball, take the shine off so he can score easy runs, bro used to struggle against Zaheer khan in Australia lol. Also averages 31.3 against Andy Caddick right in his prime. plus, Gough...

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

outside of the 2002-2006 stint in the easiest era of batting with Hayden/Langer opening, Ponting averages 41 in general, and his stats against seamers are frankly embarrassing.

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

Yeah well, Waugh retired 20 years ago, Ponting's record against seamers is shocking
  5. Johan

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

Barry Richards over AB De Villiers??? with what Test career.
  6. Johan

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

Ponting too high, Root and Waugh are better.
  7. Johan

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

I didn't mention it because I was sure someone would bring up home conditions and pretend 90s pak didn't have any advantage for reverse swing specialists, but his record outside of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in the same time is actually shocking 43 Matches, 130 wickets @ 31.6, 57.2SR and 1...

    James Anderson vs Kagiso Rabada

Hey, Root scored 3 hundreds at 94 average in a pace friendly series in England against Bumrah and Shami, it might not advance the Anderson agenda but it advances the Root agenda but yeah Bumrah > Anderson > Cummins > Rabada is where I'm at now, Cummins fell in my eyes in last 2 years
  9. Johan

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

I don't personally believe a cricketer list can ever be accurately done because Batsmen vs Bowler comparisions are very, very tricky.

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

Was he really? averaging 25+ against Aus and Eng, a home series against a fading Windies where Akram/Bishop/Ambrose all outbowled him too, he was great but he made a lot of his stats on the back of bullying hopeless attacks at home. Marshall better.
  16. Johan

Best players in certain age ranges

tbf, Anderson is a swing/seamer so it makes sense his WPM is a little lower, that doesn't take away from the fact he was difficult to hit and thus built preassure and the biggest plus of such bowlers being the ability to take out the top order batsmen, what's the wicket distribution of Anderson...
  17. Johan

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

Nope, his first ashes was the 2006-7 Ashes down under iirc (got murdered), also funnily Waqar manages to average 40 to Anderson's 34 in Aus.
  18. Johan

    Joe Root vs Mark Waugh

don't know, either make sense in the context of the comparison, but the type of batsmen Root is it's very easy to see him average 50+ at the end of his career, literally doesn't struggle anywhere but Australia and plays plenty outside of Australia.
  19. Johan

    Joe Root vs Mark Waugh

yeah that's almost a impossible, but reckon one big series and a 40+ average is fine, Lara averager 41 In Australia but no one holds it against him.
  20. Johan

    Waqar Younis vs James Anderson

I'm sure Waqar and Imran could afford mints too etc
