ODI : Adam Gilchrist vs MS Dhoni

Dhoni is the GOAT at #6. Or even GOAT of the floaters.

    Younis Khan vs Kumar Sangakkara

Mahela was sublime against fast and short stuff. It was length outside off he struggled.

Pick the ideal batsman for these scenarios

Who is your choice bat for these scenarios? Overcast Day 1 morning in Christchurch facing Hadlee - Viv Richards Dusty 5th day crumbling Chennai wicket facing Ashwin and Kumble, chasing 250 - Mahela Jayawardane, Virender Sehwag if another Indian is allowed Last over, final wicket partnership...

Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Dravid vs Imran, Wasim, Waqar

Just thinking if Waqar is replaced by Asif.

Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Dravid vs Imran, Wasim, Waqar

Imran is way ahead as a cricketer than tendulkar. The rest of the four you can arrange in any order you like.

Would you trade Bradman for these cricketers?

Should it be applied in first place?
  8. Migara

Would you trade Bradman for these cricketers?

That is entirely in hands of Croft or Patterson
  9. Migara

Would you trade Bradman for these cricketers?

Not necessarily. Why do we have to assume the reduction is linearly applied?
  10. Migara

Would you trade Bradman for these cricketers?

Imran is one of the best captains cricket had if not the best. Miles ahead of Bradman as a captain. Bradman never had to bring down the one of the best teams in cricket history, while Imran did exactly that, if not for some cheating from Windies umpires. Then Sobers is top 5 shortleg fielders...

Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Dravid vs Imran, Wasim, Waqar

The Pakistani trio (if they are of same age) would elevate any side to a extremely good one. Not so with indian trio.

Would you trade Bradman for these cricketers?

Bradman is like a batsman averaging 55 + another averaging 45. Imran with their bowling and Sobers with his batting already is there with the first, may be little ahead. Then a bowler averaging 32 and a batsman averaging 37 is not very far behind a batsman averaging 45. Then you add the third...

Would you trade Bradman for these cricketers?

All rounder + charismatic leader. Bradman is like having two batsmen, hence two players. Ditto for Imran and Sobers. Their third set of skills of fielding (Sobers) and captaincy (Imran) easily pushes them past Bradman.

Pick your bowler for these situations

You must be thinking about a certain Malcolm Marshall

Pick your bowler for these situations

    - Facing Allan Border on a cracked deteriorating Sabina Park wicket - Malcolm Marshall - Facing Sehwag on a dead, flat Multan wicket - Mohammed Asif - Facing Rahul Dravid on a Headingley overcast wicket - Muralitharan - Facing Lara on a dusty Chennai wicket - Saqlain Mushtaq / Anil Kumble -...

Would you trade Bradman for these cricketers?

Ranatunga in tests Nah. Murali and Aravinda de Silva would have been compelling. Murali and Sangakkara would be a big fat yes. Infact Sangakkara as a cricketer is much closer to Bradman than many. (other than for Imran and Sobers, who are more valuable players than Bradman)
  17. Migara

Would you trade Bradman for these cricketers?

I'd make the trade for Sobers or Imran alone

ODI : Glen McGrath vs Shaun Pollock

Throw in TM Dilshan, Hashim Amla and Shane Watson.
  19. Migara

ODI : Glen McGrath vs Shaun Pollock

Jayasuriya is a better ODI player than Gilchrist. Similar batsmen, similar second disciplines, but Jaya was an ATG fielder and a very good captain.
  20. Migara

ODI : Glen McGrath vs Shaun Pollock

Klusener / Pollock / Kapil Dev where 2 out of three is a fair competition. Kapil and Pollock are good bats, Kapil and Pollock are very economical bowlers. Klusener is a good bowler while extra explosive batsman. I would still go for Tendulkar, Jayasuriya, Richards, Kohli, ABD, Dhoni, Kapil...
