Are medium-pacers useful in modern test cricket?

Don't let McGrath see this thread he would hate being called a medium pacer! In saying that even late in his career his pace was above 130km/h which is the minimum before you start becoming easy pickings. MacDonald has height so he was effective on the Sydney wicket where their was variable...

    **Official** New Zealand in Australia

They wanted an all rounder it seems. It is only a T20 when they start picking him for the ODI then start getting worried.

That would be talking about the ODIs, Henriques is only in the T20I squad. I don't see why they would pull him from the NSW Shield side just for experience in the Aussie side.

Thinking of IPL maybe that is the reason they picked him due to fear of losing him to IPL/ICL.

Ferguson I reckon is the guy we need in there right now, seems to be able to find the gaps with ease. Dussey is going better against Vettori much better rotation of strike.

Dussey is getting tied down by that ball just outside offstump. Far too many dot balls and now the RRR is rising quickly.

They use to get some NZ commentators and pretty sure they got a few English and Indian ones when they come over.

Finally Symonds is producing with the bat and ball he is finally become a true all rounder. Good to see Gilchrist and Hayden make 50s, now only ponting is left.

Yea same, cant see aus wanting to take Bangladesh lightly again last thing they need is another upset.

    Cricketweb ODI Rankings

Hard call to make as neither of the sides have faced Pietersen. They are quite evenly matched. NZ and England probably higher than SL as SL away from home arent as good. NZ and England have quite similar lineups. Both have 2 big hitters, NZ probably more all rounders, bowling even batting would...

Who is a better batsman Martyn or Chanderpaul?

Martyn with the newly addition of his ablity against spin definitely has made him a much better batsmen. He is one that bats all around the world.

Watson currently is more of a batting all rounder. He could bat way higher than what he did in his first test match but aus have so many batters. He'll need to improve his bowling still isnt doing enough with the ball.

I would say Hussey is the better batsmen but i havent seen much of KP. KP is more like Cairns and Gilchrist very explosive. KP has had the better start to ODI with 3 100s and a number of 50s but Hussey doesn't bat as high.

Lee and Symonds lifted the team big time. Only two bowlers not fully there yet but hopefully a few more games will get them back into form

    *Official* Australia in decline thread

India cant win outside of their backyard so how on earth can they replace Aus. England are next in line and they have the talent.

Forgot martyn did well against bangladesh, but yea his slow scoring not whats needed. Look at the total Aus have got which have both being chased down. Yes if the top order did their job it could be better, but they have done their job before and still they only made about 250. Martyn actually...

Ponting wont be moved and shouldn't He is just fine at 3, our opening combo for now can stay no need to push the panic button. Martyn i dont really know in odis, he sometimes goes brillant other times can have a shocker. That is where hussey or clarke could come in dropping martyn all together...
