    3rd Test at Melbourne - December 26 - 30

They were euro runners up and 3rd place at the last World Cup under Sir Gareth Southgate. Easily qualified for Qatar while our Socceroo boys are struggling !!!! besides aren’t you and mrs burgey of English descent ?

Possum why do always use such crude language ? Merry Christmas btw.

    2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

Usually does sweetie. There are of course always exceptions but 2019 Ashes wasn't one of them.

is the Duke detrimental to English cricket?

And yet England have still managed to produce batsmen who averaged 40+ in test cricket like cook,Bell,Tresco, root,Strauss. They have also produced genuine quicks like stone, wood and saquib. Leaving Archer out as he is not really a product of the English system. But surely shows the system...

    2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

Starc doesn't bowl well outside Australia. Hazelwood also is a much better bowler in Australia _ he did well in Ashes 2019 but let's see if he can back it up in 2023 given he will be 32. Lyons record in England is ok _ but hardly world beating. This Aussie attack is good but let's not pretend...

    2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

My point. People labelling Australia warm to massive favourites for 2023 based off winning this series are being highly presumptuous. This series means sweet Jack all in terms of how Australia will fare in England.

    2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

Australia really weren't the better team in 2019. The series scoreline would have reflected that if they were. The 2nd test would almost certainly have been an england win had it not been for rain. And if you're arguing Australia we're unlucky at headingley so were England in the first test...

    2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

Err yes it is. Better Aussie teams than this one have gone to England since 2001 and come away beaten. add to the fact that two of your best batsmen are probably likely to decline further in the next 18 months. No way can Australia be deemed massive favourites in an away ashes. btw Warner is...

    2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

The history of the Ashes since 2001 when Australia’s Atg team was at their zenith has shown that facile Australian wins in Australia mean nothing in terms of their chances in old blighty. totally different ball game over there. England also could be a very different looking side in 18 months...

    2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

Pretty big if though. Especially considering that smith will be two years older and evidence is starting to mount that while he is still a solid contributor perhaps his days of bradmanesque run scoring are behind him. Not to mention that it’s unlikely that Warner will be around in 2023 either...

    2nd Test at Adelaide - 16 to 20 Dec

Could also argue it the other way. Australia’s win in the first test was aided considerably by Clouderson getting injured.

1st Test at Brisbane, 8th-12th of December 2021

Ok so Buttler is only a little better than Carey and labu and Warner are decidedly better than malan and Rory. but hameed is far more talented than Harris and root is in better form than smith. Validates my point there isn’t much between the batting.

1st Test at Brisbane, 8th-12th of December 2021

Warner > burns Harris < hameed Labu > malan Smith = root Head = stokes Green =pope Carey < Buttler not much between the sides. Australia’s batting isn’t as good as a lot of their supporters think it is. And yes I think in their current form root more than matches up with smith.

1st Test at Brisbane, 8th-12th of December 2021

Still stand by my belief that England's batting isn't really inferior to Australia's. The problem is that England's bowlers are not much chop in Aussie conditions. The pink bowl tests will narrow hopefully the gap between the two bowling attacks.

1st Test at Brisbane, 8th-12th of December 2021

Way too early to say that about Pope. Actually think he is a top notch talent along with hameed. They are two of the most promising batsmen in the world.. Have to persist with him as young batsmen take time to mature.

***Official New Zealand in India Nov-Dec 2021 Thread***

India also number one test team now in the icc rankings and fair enough because they have proven themselves a more capable team across conditions and facing different opposition than nz.

***Official New Zealand in India Nov-Dec 2021 Thread***

Dude if you are going to argue something at least be balanced about it. India were missing six front line players in Kanpur and Mumbai so the whole nz didn't have Conway and boult so can be excused doesn't cut it. Likewise the whole tiredness excuse is lame - India have played more cricket of...

***Official New Zealand in India Nov-Dec 2021 Thread***

India were walloped in 2011 and 2014 but the score line in 2018 was misleading and flattered England IMO. India had genuine winning opportunities in 3 of those 5 tests despite losing all five tosses. I think it also arguably lulled Australia into a false sense of complacency that India were...
