    Road to the 2019 Ashes

Wait, is that confirmed? Was never confident that Wood would make it tbh, nor was he really close to being in the starting XI, but Archer out could be significant

Final - England v New Zealand

Yeah has looked horrible in the highlights of the championship I've seen this year, but I understand that he is still doing decent in the one-day stuff.

Final - England v New Zealand

Don't think our batting should change much, though it will have aged by 2023. Bairstow, Roy, Butler, Stokes and Root will all be 32/33. None of them will be retired (or shouldn't be) but will probably be moving towards the end of their careers. Morgan could well still be there but might have...

    **Official** Ireland in England 2019

Problem is that Bairstow doesn't want to bat at 3 (and definitely wouldn't open). He likes the safety of batting 5 to 7 and keeping too much to potentially give up the gloves and move to 3 where he has constant pressure to score runs. Can't blame him too much but it's frustrating that he seemed...

    **Official** Ireland in England 2019

Na I think Archer has to play. It's not as if his theoretical inclusion is based solely on his ODI performances. It's arguably in FC cricket where he has had the most statistical success, I can see the argument that Anderson, Broad and Woakes is a proven recipe for destruction in English...

    **Official** Ireland in England 2019

Thinking about it if Woakes plays instead of Broad and Ali plays as we're expecting him to, then this becomes an arguably even more ridiculous batting lineup in terms of depth. One of Woakes/Ali would be 9 and Archer would be batting at 10 with a 30+ FC batting average

    **Official** Ireland in England 2019

To be fair, I reckon the debate is more Woakes vs Broad than Broad vs Curran; in the latter case Broad wins easily. Woakes is probably more on the same level right now though, especially in England, but I imagine they'd probably go with Broad in the first test I should think. Is there any...

Jos Buttler - England's greatest ever?

Don't think he's inconsistent at all actually. He scores more hundreds at 6 than anyone else. Probably quite hard to rank no.1 when you bat at 6 and don't come in until 35th to 40th over, and in easy chases where players usually inflate their averages, you don't even bat most of the time.

Describe your feelings during the last 30 minutes of the 2019 WC Final

Whenever I see the replay of Archer's last ball I still get stressed. Me and my brother had effectively resigned ourselves to the fact that we weren't going to win after Butler got out, runs required was getting too steep on a slowing pitch. Only really changed with the deflection off of...

Rank the World Cups from best to worst

To be fair, the one sort of good thing for Afghanistan's campaign was how many games they almost won. They were in positions to beat all of Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka, and while blowing them the way they did probably hurts a lot, and suggests that they aren't a very good team at handling...

Should deflected overthrows off stokes bat have only been 5 runs not 6?

Would Rashid definitely have been on strike in the case of a 5 being awarded instead of a 6? If so, that would even seem a bit bizarre to me, and I would have been salty about it, as the point when the ball hits Stokes he has completed two runs and is on strike for the next ball. We all know...

    **Official** England fans celebration thread

Reckon Matt Parkinson might be a good bet to be in the 2023 (though it's obviously far away) Can't really think of any other up and coming spinner for England though

    **Official** England fans celebration thread

Probably the greatest game of any sport I have ever seen; helped that we ended up winning of course A lot of social media reaction as well. I think at least for a little while, Cricket is relevant in England again

    **Official** Ireland in England 2019

What are the chances that Jamie Porter gets a debut? Probably deserves one at this point and has been recognised by many as the bowler who will takeover from Anderson eventually (not to say he will be as good obvs)

Will the Kiwis choke against Australia in the final again?

Would a NZ loss to Aus actually have been a 'choke' anyway, unless it was from a winning position? The advantage of the underdog position should surely be that losing has no consequences (though NZ fans won't feel this way if they actually do lose I imagine).

Final - England v New Zealand

It is a bit bizarre to think that there are two tournaments, effectively identical in the quality of the teams playing, in which one is seen as much more importance and ultimately impressive in winning. It makes you think the CT is a little redundant because of it, but at least it feels the gap...

    Man of the tournament?

Root has about the same amount of runs as Kane hasn't he? Could probably make an argument for either of those two, or even Bairstow, if they make match winning scores in the final (though the actual award doesn't factor the final match into the equation). Not sure bowlers can do enough to go...

Final - England v New Zealand

It's actually quite ridiculous how alike Williamson and Root are as ODI batsmen. Right handed no.3s who generally go at a run a ball to hold the innings together. Both guide the ball a lot down to third man as well (though Kane probably does it a lot more). It's definitely a good matchup...

Sky showing final free to air

To be fair, I imagine the contract to show the Grand Prix probably stipulated that it had to be shown on the main channel.
