Who is more destructive when in top form? Steyn or Johnson?

It depends on the definition of destruction. If it is pure wicket taking ability then Steyn hands down. His ability to set up a batsman, swing the ball a lot and crank it up when needed makes him the most complete bowler today. If it's the ability to scare batsman, hurt them with extreme...

Courtney Walsh slower ball. (1/2) Courtney Walsh Career Highlights - YouTube (Around 5:45). I remember he developed it late in his career and from slo-mos, there was no cut on the ball making it incredibly hard to pick up. I wish there was more footage on youtube though.

    **Official** Group B Discussion

Since he stopped going for pace around 2009, I've always compared him to Bracken. He has 3 types of slower balls.

    **Official** Group B Discussion

Sure, In that sense I agree. He looked like he was able to hold down an end really well in the beginning of his career but his last few outing haven't been that good.

    ****Official****Pakistan in South Africa

Pretty obvious for me. He's running to the stumps to obstruct the ball.

Dale Steyn vs Allan Donald vs Shaun Pollock

Steyn averaged 29 though. The point about England vs Australia batsmen at different times makes a lot of sense. Who was England's best batsman during Donald's time? Thorpe?

Dale Steyn vs Allan Donald vs Shaun Pollock

Pretty much. Against Australia: Donald: 14 matches 53 wickets @31 Steyn: 11 matches 57 wickets @27 Against England: Donald: 17 matches 86 wickets @23 Steyn: 11 matches 46 wickets @32

Dale Steyn vs Allan Donald vs Shaun Pollock

My theory is that white ball doesn't swing as much so bowlers who rely on movement instead of bounce will struggle. That is unless they have an incredible slower ball and/or yorker. Steyn doesn't those tools in his pocket.

Dale Steyn vs Allan Donald vs Shaun Pollock

I guess you have to ask Malcolm Marshall the same thing. He averaged 27.

    Who can stop South Africa?

Basically a reincarnation of the Donald/Pollock partnership in the late 90s-early 2000s.
