    *Official* India in South Africa

This is the kind of innings which makes one think Kallis = Ponting with the bat.

Haha, these posts were 20 mins ago. This has been a fantastic series. Much better than the one down here.

*Official* Fifth Test at the SCG

We did so much hard work today that it's disappointing we've again been the masters of our own demise. It's similar to our 2009 series where everyone could get a start but no one could go on with things. I guess that's better then 98ao though. Khawaja looked fantastic, been a while since we've...

This is a case of whoever blinks first. If England get a bit down, we can begin to fill our boots but if we lose concentration things could fall apart pretty quickly.

Yeah and no reason Ponting can't come back even if Khawaja does well, will contribute more to the team (albeit down the order) than Smith, surely. Although if we use that criteria in selecting the Australian team, you'd have a whole lineup of suitable candidates

Ponting's come in heaps recently after impressive Watson-Katich starts (which I think averaged 50 together for over a year) and still did poorly. Wonder what Ponting will be thinking whilst Khawaja is batting though :p

Know it brings him so many runs, but Hughes slashing less looks so much better.

No Test is ever "useless", regardless of the series scoreline (and this one is still alive ffs!)

Fantastic Test cricket. Our XI is a joke though.

CW'S 50 Best ODI Cricketers of all time (voting now open)

Nominate Brad Hogg - was a fantastic, and often underrated member of our bowling attack who filled the post-Warne role beautifully.

    Man of the Series

I don't think it should be about who is on the winning or losing team, but overall who has had the most impact on the series, individually. It might be 4-0 if not for Hussey, yet if Cook failed a little more others would be there to pick up the slack and the scoreline might still be 2-1. That...

IMHO, if we selected this team for Sydney we could come close to winning the match: Hughes Watson Khawaja Clarke Hussey Hussey Haddin Hauritz Johnson Siddle Bollinger Not saying it's a better side than England's but I think it'd be our best shot and if everything clicks it could do very well.

England can beat India "every day of week": Gough

Yeah, it does have issues relative to the fact we had three all-time great spinners retire within a couple of years of each-other. Bit like being the best all-rounder post Botham/Dev/Hadlee/Khan. Doesn't detract from him being a fantastic cricketer who wins matches for his side though, as you...

England can beat India "every day of week": Gough

Used to be like this a couple of years back, although don't think I've ever seen so much comment on something so silly. Is Gough the new Botham? FTR I think England would beat India three times a week.

Even Bangladeshis would 'walk into' Australian team : Jamie Siddons

Shakib would walk into the South African side and Tamim as well ahead of Petersen, by the looks of it. Would actually be a damn good side.

*Official* Fifth Test at the SCG

Even within ODIs, there are some series that just don't mean much (esp next year four years out from the next world cup). Players are rested and no one seems to care too much whether they win or lose. Seven match monstrosities don't help much either. You mention Rashid, but I'd point to guys...

*Official* Fifth Test at the SCG

Depends who he replaces, really. That said, it would have to be after the world cup, because you don't chop and change your side in the months leading up to a WC. And what if he does that much better in his first Test because he's already done the media, knows most of the blokes and has...

*Official* Fifth Test at the SCG

I'm not saying his Test inclusion should be predicated upon success in ODIs, I'd just like him to soak up some time in big stadiums and enjoy a little bit of less meaningful international cricket so it's one less thing he has to deal with mentally before he debuts in the real thing.

*Official* Fifth Test at the SCG

In an ideal world, I'd like to see him play perhaps another season of domestic cricket, a season in England and a couple of ODIs for international exposure before he gets given the baggy green, so when he does debut he's much more of a finished product. He's such an exciting prospect that I...
