McCullum scored 80* out of 95 against BD in 2007.

Players who could be other players

I tend to connect/confuse Mitchell with Herbie Taylor - both openers, both played 42 Tests for SA over about 20 years interrupted by war.

For matches where players actually bowled as a 5th bowler in th 2000s, it’s about on a par with Tendulkar, Sehwag and Collingwood, and is distinctly worse than Afridi, Jayasuriya, Gayle and Klusener. It’s not bad for a batsman who bowls a bit, but would be poor for a specialist.

He won the Player of the Series award for the 1986-7 WSC (when WI came bottom of the group), and Border and Gatting both reckoned the voting was a farce. To be fair, Viv didn't have a bad series, but Steve Waugh would probably have been a better choice.

The only notable change from their career figures is that Richards's average in matches where Garner was playing goes up to 57.

    "Back Draft" best 3

Huh - was busy for a few days when this draft was closing, then forgot all about it... Belated congratulations to Red Hill, who picked one of the best attacks I can remember seeing in a draft, and bad luck to Milenko47. (My XI may be the best batting line-up ever to do so poorly in a draft :-)).

Running Out Of Players Draft - Season 1

Could do with a reserve opener and wicket-keeper, so I'll pick Budhi Kunderan. Plus I always like how he opened the bowling in a Test match despite not knowing what he bowled...

Quite impressive that he managed to lose that record (with min 30 Tests) in his next 3 matches... Geoff Pullar (28) regains his record.

DoG's Top 100 Test Batsmen Countdown Thread

Or he could be thinking of triple hundreds (Sehwag was within 7 runs of being the first to 3 of those).

    The Records and Milestones thread

There's never been a tie for most runs in Test cricket at the end of a Test match.

Worst winning performance you have seen

That's an odd one, because he was top of the averages (62) against South Africa that summer.
