**Official Comm Bank Series - Aus, Ind & SL ODI's***

It almost feels like they are playing ODIs in reverse. Start fast and then watch the run rate slowly bleed away.

Never understood that shot. Seems a lot of risk and you only get one if you do it successfully.

Why does no one seem to consider fielding when picking ATG teams?

I am keen for you to have that middle order, too.

    Nathan Bracken Sues Cricket Australia

Bah, you don't need any athletic ability to dance. I say this despite never having watched the show.

Ajmal claims special concession to 15 degree rule allowed by ICC

Regardless of whether he is straightening his arm more than 15 degrees or not, the evidence is that you would be going out and hunting for kids with bent arms if you were in charge of developing cricketers for a country. There seems to be a natural advantage there too big to ignore. Not that I...

Why does no one seem to consider fielding when picking ATG teams?

The difference to the result between a good and great fielder is not enough to overcome other factors. Particularly in test cricket, which most of the ATG threads seem to concentrate on.

Instances of series favorites being whitewashed?

Well, here is the list of whitewashes. England 3 v Australia The Ashes (Australia in England), 1886...

    Pakistan Zindabad!!!

Think I enjoyed this series as much as any over the last few years.

    Players that had quick declines....

Mohammed Yousuf went from scoring thousands of runs a year to struggling really fast.

    Improving the Invincibles

Interesting article but not convinced they would have added that much. Selectors knew what they were doing, imo.

**Official Comm Bank Series - Aus, Ind & SL ODI's***

I consider histogramming to be a game more than a sport. It is an outrage that it is being included into the Olympics.

Watching the replay. Is cricket the only sport where people are interested in graphs?

Is there any bowler who's better than Malcolm Marshall or could challenge him?

I would tend to agree but at least they all have substantial records at test level. Mike Proctor is basically just guessing.

VVS Laxman - Truly Great or Truly Ordinary

It just shows in statistics what we already knew anyway. Capable of moments of almost unmatched batsmanship but too rarely to be considered great. He is the Mark Waugh of Indian cricket.

Has the ODI cricket today lost the appeal it used to have in the 1990's?

I think that is the key point. Tests create their own relevance whereas ODIs need to have meaning applied artificially. This is why World Cups matches are more watchable and why Australia has gone back to the tri-series. T20s will head this way too once the novelty factor has worn off.

New/uncommon statistics you'd like to see brought into cricket

If there are going to be new statistics, one simple one I would like to see is the average runs per wicket for tests a player has played in. I would be interested to see how much it varies between different countries and different eras. You could then compare a players batting or bowling...

    IPL5 Auction

No more so than Hogg in the BBL. And who was rating him highly? SOK is average at best. Just that Hogg is fairly poor these days as well. Steven Smith on the other hand is elite. I can't remember him dropping anything.
