Future of fast bowling in India

The one indian quick that really impressed me in test matches is Sreesanth. In South AFrica he was simply superb. For the first time in many years, we had a genuinely quick bowler who could move the ball both ways and the most pleasing sign, consistently take BIG wickets. He didn't just get the...

    Ricky Ponting vs Steve Waugh

Who was bowling in 05 and 06 of that good quality? and apparently duck in both innings in 99... Even in 99 the bowlers were well past their prime...but better than any of the crap bowled today

    Ricky Ponting vs Steve Waugh

Wrong, Waugh definatly did not have limited talent. He had far more talent than most players of his time. Talent isn't judged by looking glorious when you play a shot, or being supremly stylish etc. In that case, Mark Waugh would be the most talented player in the world. As I mentioned...

    Ricky Ponting vs Steve Waugh

I still back Waugh as the better batsman and captain. Batting wise, Waugh faced FAR better bowling. I mean seriously, who are the premier bowlers in the world atm, besides the Australians? Murali Ntini Kumble Pollcok hoggard Bond Clark Asif Flintoff Shaoib Akhtar That's the top 10 for test...

    Gilchrist a cheater?

if the squash ball was 'integrated' into the glove by the glove makers, i doubt anyone would make a fuss. I don't see how a squash ball helps in gripping a bat quite simply

Brad Hogg as a test match option

Macgill would have to be the number 1 test option, and i'm a HUGE brad hogg fan. Basically he has a proven test record, whilst Hogg whilst not being terrible, hasn't been great either. Give Macgill a go, see how he goes, and if he's nto doing good, then Hogg should be option number 2...

lol, so Hogg IS their number 1 spinner now?

Brad Hogg as a test match option

lol he's not considered the best FC option in WA. I believe beau casson plays ahead of hogg in FC cricket. Quite mind boggling really that someone could be right up there in international one day cricket, and can't play for his state side! EDIT: I can't even see Casson on that list! Hmm..it's...

    Dropping catches

I field at Cover and consider myself a good fielder. I dropped one catch in total last season, and one the season before. Fielding at cover, i do get a lot of catches coming my way. Anyway i went on holiday for a month and when i returned i was VERY scared of having a catch hit my way. I'd...

    Allrounders Vs Batsmen and Bowlers

Well even in tests i've seen Oram as more a batsman than a bowler. hiw bowling is not bad but lacks penetration imo

    Allrounders Vs Batsmen and Bowlers

Yup but soe of the options aren't the best. Oram, Razzaq, Jayasuriya, Gayle, Styris and Collingwood are all decent bowlers, no doubt about it. But they are primarily batsman who can bowl. they do a decent job but a bowler who can bat a bit is generally a better bowling option.

    Allrounders Vs Batsmen and Bowlers

the other advantage being that if one of the bowlers is getting hit a bit, you can easily replace him with an equal. For example... look at the specialist line up: Tendulkar Gilchrist (wk) Ponting Pietersen Sarwan Hussey Lee Vaas Bond Muralitharan McGrath Mcgrath, murali, bond and vaas are...

    Allrounders Vs Batsmen and Bowlers

Collingwood would make the England team without his bowling ability, Symonds would make the Aus team wihtout his bowling ability. So yes, whilst there might be better batsman on the specialist side, they may not be significantly better. The longer batting line up makes up for the difference...

    Allrounders Vs Batsmen and Bowlers

Ok so you've dropped Afridi, who is a very good ODI bowler. The team is already short on bowling. Yes i should have had Styris and Symonds but not Razzaq imo. The rest of the selections are the same. Pollock, Flintoff are guaranteed 10 over bowlers, Oram probably not, Symonds is ok. Pollock...
