Ye fair enough in general, 33 just shows he was respectable in that serious. Speaks to broader argument that I've looked into in the past how how batsmen from the 1900-1939 really were not exposed to high quality pace attacks combinations outside of Bodyline & Gregory/McDonald combo - but that's...

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

You missed my point, but that raises a total different question as to whether any of the Asian cricketers born in UK actually wanted to/felt they were good enough play for IND/PAK depending on which was their heritage or simply took the easier option to going through the motions trying to play...

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Yea I don't think much of my Asian cricket fanatic friends ever went back to IND/PAK - but they simply resonate to them more than ENG. I never forgot going to the 99 W-Cup match at Old Trafford with India & PAK & wondering where the hell did all these IND/PAK fans come from  You check...

Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Well at least you get it. And I can say quite confidently also having grown up in the North and many of my cricket friends who live near Old Trafford & Leeds - are of IND/PAK origin & I have yet to meet one who supports ENG in my life. In fact all the Asians like Moeen, Bopara, Kabir, Solanki...

Hayden & Simpson IMO are the best two and would be my choices in the AUS ATXI. Openers have been such a strong point through AUS history has everyone knows, they could give a team a few openers - because its really all about subjectivity, a bit ideological opinion on how you separate between...

Forward defensive: Why cricket must learn from rugby and expand its appeal | The Economist Have been seeing a lot of rugby vs cricket administration comparison articles of late by people who in tune with how both sports are run.

    Tom Graveney RIP

RIP. Would probably pick him in my England ATXI C-team

    Kagiso Rabada

Zondeki like so many players since 1998 just came across to me as a forced quota selection.

    Kagiso Rabada

Don't rate Hendricks based on what I've seen of him in international cricket TBF. Getting Parnell back to the level he was showing during the 2014 series vs AUS might be preferable if SA wants/needs a left-armer. IMO Hardus Viljeon based on what I've seen of him in the now abandoned champs...

    Cricket All-Stars 2015 - Sachin's Blasters vs Warne's Warriors

Unlike the MCC match last year @ Lords, I hope this time Tendy & Lara opens the batting together - that for me will be the only cricket reason I will watch this.

The making of Moeen | The Cricket Monthly | ESPN Cricinfo Lovely read. Only thing I would say is that Mooen's rise to the ENG team might encourage more Asians in ENG who generally support PAK/IND to want to play for ENG, but I can't see it resonating too much with the black UK population.

**Official** New Zealand in Australia 2015

Early days yet, but I would put it down to global trend of recent times of most of the test playing nations except for WI/SRI/BANG/ZIM being very strong at home & weak away from home (except SA of course) more so than anything Lehmann might/could have done.

Ye most likely, so you kiwis have limited faith in lets say Henry/Wagner coming in later in this series to support Boult?

**Official** Pakistan and England in the UAE 2015/16

The only worry with Hales despite having a good FC form this season, is if his poor form in AUS ODIs & lack of cricket in last few months will translate to his inevitable test debut on Boxing day.

**Official** Pakistan and England in the UAE 2015/16

Presuming SA will unleash a 4-prong of Steyn/Philander/Morkel/Rabada on ENG, it could be a damaging tour. Looking at this series, not much deep analysis needed. ENG played the spin in general slightly better than the 2012 tour, in fact in Asian tours since that series in SRI & IND - ENG have...

**Official** New Zealand in Australia 2015

Well one of the reasons for this is because in the past NZ fast bowlers used to train on concrete in preparation for test cricket. That is the reason why at the start of 2000s an entire generation of talented quicks/quick bowling all-rounders in Bond, Allot, O'Connor, Butler, Doull, Nash...

**Official** New Zealand in Australia 2015

Far more ruthless over a longer period of time yes, but PAK in UAE in recent years have shown a great a ruthlessness vs most team than any home side in cricket history one can say. So even though this test could be out of NZs grasp, recent performances as FLEM274 shows - i don't put it past...

Greatest keeper batsman - Gilchrist or Sangakkara?

So what are going to do now? Going back to attempting a civil discussion about the point you raise or end it here on ideological gridlock grounds?
