Is This India's Greatest Test Series Victory Overseas?

Considering that 36 and playing with almost a second side, this is surely one of the bests...can you think of any other better than this?

    Ashwin v Lyon

Ashwin managed all those wickets in a better bowling line up overall than Kumble...

    Ashwin v Lyon

Kumble did get fair amount of opportunity to be honest...his stats overseas from 1990 to 2001 looked dismal really...

    Ashwin v Lyon

Fair enough...but at least Kumble was learning, if you see his career from beginning to that Headingly test in 2001, and from that test till the end, you will find remarkable improvement in s/r and avg...he was getting better (unlike someone, say, Javagal Srinath) and that is good enough for me...

    Meaningless and stupid cricket statistics

Runs in the 1st innings and 2nd innings...I think it was Ian Smith who was commenteting when Sehwag was batting, and a statistic showed up about his glorious first innings performance and a dismal second innings stats...Ian was quick to comment that if Sehwag was batting for his side, he would...

    Ashwin v Lyon

Lyon is a very steady bowler, but Ashwin clearly ahead in this one...the real question is, if one makes a best Indian team (last 40 years or so) and can include only one spinner, who will that be? Ashwin or Kumble?

    Sub-Continent Batsmen in SENA countries

Not only Kohli, so many others would also qualify...2000+runs, 40+ career average...but I included players who are done playing, Laxman's era and the era before that...

    Sub-Continent Batsmen in SENA countries

Right, Sangakkara has the highest average in Australia. My mistake.

    Sub-Continent Batsmen in SENA countries

Just checked, Sidhu and Gambhir also fit the criteria and should have been included, and also some S. L batters like Tillekeratne, Samaraweera, Jayasuriya and Dilshan...and my God, I haven't included Saeed Anwar also...

    Sub-Continent Batsmen in SENA countries

Someone mentioned about Laxman's average in SENA countries in that Laxman thread. Thought it's a good idea to see how Sub-Continent batsmen overall preformed in SENA countries and check if something interesting can be found there. Among the batsmen who played around Laxman's era and had 40+ test...

Yes, as far as playing Warne and spin in general, surely...

If you can bowl just 2 types of deliveries in test matches, what would they be?

Just saw that ball again...in fact, Laxman drove Warne several times of that line and length stepping out, between mid-on and mid-wicket for a boundary...

If you can bowl just 2 types of deliveries in test matches, what would they be?

That ball of the century as they say actually was made so by getting's inability to play spin bowling, he was standing nowhere...any good batsman of spin (like Sachin or Laxman) would have simply offered their pads, way outside leg stump, end of the story...

Best Teams from last 4 Decades

Stewart as a specialist opener...that's really great to see. Do u really believe he was better than Gooch or Anwar? Or even Boon for that matter?

Best test match number 3 since 1970?

You seem to have corrected some of the loose and emotional comments you made in your earlier post and that's good to see. About the points you have made in this post 1. You are "quite willing to concede that Dravid was better in England" and though you agree it swung "around corners there when...

Best test match number 3 since 1970?

There are several points you have made here and I happen to disagree with many of them 1. Dravid better batsman in swinging conditions than Ponting is absurd for you and your point of argument is that dravid did well in England in only one tour in 2002 against a poor bowling line up...that's...

Best test match number 3 since 1970?

Well, there are by and large 3 kinds of wickets in test match cricket that can produce results (leaving aside two teams first innings took four days to finish kind), 1. Where the balls swing, air or seam, 2. Where the balls turn and 3. Where it comes with real pace and bounce...among the three...
