Three horse race to be the best team in the world?

I already acknowledged special players like Flintoff, Steyn can win tests in India. Problem is England don't have any.

Three horse race to be the best team in the world?

Sure, if bowling India out with an hour left in the test and 200+ to score is your ambition, you might be able to do it. But, I was expecting a more realistic portal of bowling India out - it simply cannot be done with the current line up in Indian conditions if the attack does not have Steyn.

Three horse race to be the best team in the world?

Kumble just ensured that no one got a sniff, but even without him - as long as the present batting line up is around - India are unbeatable at home. I am yet to hear of how England or any bowling attack in the world not including Steyn can bowl out Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Tendulkar, Laxman...

Is Steyn as deadly as Lillee?

I've already realized it. No one on the board saw anything wrong with Steyn not having enough competition on the flattest decks of decades but started jumping all around when Lillee's incomplete test record was brought forth as a counter. What is Steyn expected to do - hold training camps in...

Is Steyn as deadly as Lillee?

Yeah, Steyn sucks! He's right down with the level with a certain paceman from Australia who sold his soul to play for money instead of the country and now 30 years later his fanboys are making excusing for him sucking in the subcontinent.

Is Steyn as deadly as Lillee?

Isn't it a huge compliment to a bowler who never played in the subcontinent (and sucked whenever he did, accepting his mitigating circumstances) when his competitors did?

Three horse race to be the best team in the world?

Why? It's pretty easy to explain - India tried the 5 bowler 5 batsman strategy and lost the match after deciding to bowl first on a pitch which would crumble - such stars are not going to align anytime soon. Moreover, England had a Flintoff to switch the balance like they did in the early 80s...

Three horse race to be the best team in the world?

Naah! It's a one off performance, like England's.

Is Steyn as deadly as Lillee?

I apologize, I am new to the forum so don't know the kind of responses to expect from certain posters. But, in an earlier response to your post I acknowledged Lillee as one of the all time great bowlers - scratch that not acknowledge, but I believe he was, even before your post. My responses on...

Is Steyn as deadly as Lillee?

Already answered earlier - if you are going to hold there not being good enough competitors to Steyn in the best batting conditions of decades, surely you've got to hold the fact that Lillee hardly played outside two countries and sucked whenever he did. Next?

Three horse race to be the best team in the world?

Yeah, ideally. But that didn't stop them from showing up for the last 25 years barring 1 test match, specially '93 which was supposed to be the best equipped side against spin.

Is Steyn as deadly as Lillee?

Too bad Lillee didn't even hang around to find out which was the best side of his era - sold his soul to Packer.

Australia - the aftermath of the Ashes

As a neutral, I can understand sidelining Katich for Hughes - understand not support. But backing this hack which goes around in the name of Steve Waugh, Shane Warne is just lunacy!

Australia - the aftermath of the Ashes

Okay, let's see how he copes in Sri Lanka against Mendis, Herath, and Randiv. I am sure his techinical flaw outside the off stump won't come into play there.

Australia - the aftermath of the Ashes

To the ones who disagree with me, who/what is Steven Smith : 1. A batsman who can bowl 2. A bowler who can bat 3. A batting all rounder who can turn his arm over 4. A bowling all rounder who can slog a few 5. Someone who can command a presence in the side with bowling or batting

Three horse race to be the best team in the world?

In Indian conditions? I really doubt it. They've got awesome back up strength in their bowling attack - that's the biggest improvement in England I've seen. Not sure how that is going to help England win a test match in India, when the entire bowling attack is going to be on it's first tour to...

Kallis vs Ponting as test batsmen

Didn't know that the attack Tendulkar faced in '89 was the same as '99? Maybe stats guru showed them up the same because you queried by "Opposition country - Pakistan"?

Australia - the aftermath of the Ashes

The first thing Australia have to do is dump Steven Smith. I cringe seeing a bits and pieces player in the Australian test line up where Warne was a spinner and the number 7 was Gilchrist. Once that has been done, they can start to put the remaining pieces in some order. Does ICC have an award...

The ICC's All time ODI dream XI

Respect your choice(it's a very good all time ODI XI, IMO), but am not comfortable with the idea of leaving 10/50 overs to part timers in an all XI. If something goes wrong these guys will still continue to be hit for 70 runs in 10 overs, not to mention the trickle down effect on other...

Three horse race to be the best team in the world?

Since I was one of the posters who made the "I can't see how England could win a Test match here" remarks, I feel compelled to respond. How have England shown themselves capable of winning anywhere? England(the current nucleus side) have hardly played in India and Sri Lanka and failed to win a...
