This is a bit of a myth that’s evolved around Miller. Bradman used him in short bursts cos he had Bill Johnston to do the grunt work and then generally two spinners plus Lindwall. But Miller could, and did bowl long successful spells when needed.

Id have him ahead of Root or Barrington personally but there’s really nothing in it. I wouldn’t argue against anyone who thought the others were better. Just think KP has that Gilchrist or Viv factor of being able to take a game away from opponents very quickly. Probably all true. I just think...

Also think Gooch is vastly underrated. Will never displace Hobbs/Hutton or Sutcliffe, but he had an amazing record against the WI and was great vs Warne.

I think KP probably belongs in an all time England XI. Could take to Warne and McGrath unlike others. Big time player. Hutton Hobbs Hammond Compton Pietersen Botham Knott + Larwood Laker Barnes Trueman

    Shane Warne dead at 52

MWaugh is stoic as ****. Seems like him and Warne were pretty tight and great mates.

    Shane Warne dead at 52

Sunny saying Murali was better is fine, but saying Kumble was better is dumb. I’d argue Warne was better than Murali, but that’s for another day to anyone who can vaguely read a room. Surely a day after the bloke’s death you could have a bit of decorum and say something like “whether he is the...

    Shane Warne dead at 52

I’m strangely moved by Warne’s death. I mean, I’ve always loved the game, and he’s been there almost as long as I’ve understood the game. I was 14 when he debuted, and he’s just been a constant character since. Probably the greatest bowler ever in terms of mastering cricket’s hardest art and...

    Should Langer get D R O P P E D as Australian coach?

Definitely been a trend in the AFL over the years that successful coaches haven’t been superstar players. Sheedy, Malthouse, Hardwick, Clarkson, Thompson, Worsfold and pagan were all decent footballers but more workmanlike than superstar.
