    *Official* English Football Season 2022/23

One of the stranger days. Cambridge v Plymouth on one screen, World Cup QF on another, and Soccer Saturday on another.

    *Official* Quarter Finals Thread

It would be tough to judge general time wasting from goal kicks and throw-ins unless you literally stop the clock whenever the ball goes out of play.

No recall for Ron. A final between Portugal and Argentina with Messi on the pitch and Ron on the bench would be quite funny. :santa:

England test tour of Pakistan December 2022

I got 12. I eliminated Gough and Caddick from grecian’s original list immediately, so my chances of a full house were slim. :santa:

The Championship is back today along side the rest of us peasants. It’ll be interesting to see if any EFL attendances are hit by the World Cup. Not that Portugal v Morocco is much of a lure to real fans of any club. Half of League 2 has been frozen off already.

Anyone who got their second yellow card in the quarter final will miss the semi. But yellow cards are not carried forward to the semi final from the rest of the tournament. Clean slate for all.

    Why cricketers rarely cry ?

Michael Holding was in tears after Ian Chappell was given not out from a thick edge on the 75/76 tour. He was very young and learned from it and made sure it never happened again. The next time a similar incident occurred a few years later in New Zealand he just booted the stumps over instead.

Decent entertainment if you’re not invested. I was never expecting Brazil v Argentina, though mainly because the non total football Dutch could be efficient enough to nullify the average, though improving, Argies.

When Crawley gets in he does often look like a Test batsman. No matter how long Burns bats he still looks like he’s trying to avoid being arrested for jaywalking.

You can go around in circles all night. Someone originally said that the Aussies would sort Bazball out and someone else commented that they have been known to stutter under pressure. That’s all. No one has said anything will be easy, We might be all out for 36.

Question for English and Australian fans

Does anyone actually follow the WTC? I couldn't give a toss about it. If we got to a final I'd want to win and would gloat a little after, but never once look at the table or permutation of results needed or even care that it exists.

According to the BBC there'll be fog in the morning as well as bad light in the evening. 60 overs a day. :santa:

The point has nothing to do with nail-biters. The point is they lost control under pressure. If they’re being hit off their length and conceding runs quickly the same thing could happen, with strong emphasis on the “could”.

Stokes innings at Headingley wasn’t “Bazball” but it did show the Australian bowling and fielding could get a bit ragged under pressure,
