I thought so too but then looked at our next bunch of players and couldn't pick more than one or two to play for nz A. Most aren't even getting picked for their domestic sides. It's quite disappointing really. Can't imagine where our cricket will be 10 years time.

Personally although he's world class if nzc had any guts whatsoever they shouldn't pick him. I'm not against Boult saying no to contract and wanting to play when he feels like but this was the time for nzc to say thanks but no thanks. They've just opened the door for other players to do what...

That broke my heart... Finn has played so well today. Deserved a big hundred. He'll be playing for black caps for another 12-14 years and break all records in white ball cricket for nz unless he ends up chasing cash and ends up with the leagues around the world.

250 is looking a bit distant. Santner can bat and so can Jimmy. If Jimmy has a good day we can still get to 230+ Still think the par score is 250 given our bowling line up today

Phillips really need to improve his batting vs spin. The only area of scoring against spin for him is leg side.

Looks like another 240-250 deck. Our bowling is not so flash today. Boult, Southee and Santner have to be really good today. One of them have an off day it's going to be hard to level the series. Don't trust Jimmy to be consistent with the ball. That said Macewell could surprise us all...

He's commentated probably in every u19 wc and will have known stand out players

He's an absolute gun player vs spin. The quality of spin bowling from WI has been quite good. The wickets have been falling in heaps at the other end otherwise he'd have taken it on. I'm surprised at how well he has adopted to play with patience. Didn't think he had it in him to change his...

I don't think they could separate out red ball and white ball sides like an Aussie A, Lions or India A sides go. Don't think we have that sort of budget to send out two different teams. Ideally I would have gone with Batters: 1. Carter 2. Worker 3. Bruce 4. Rob O'Donnell 5. Foxcroft (Why not...

I thought Joe Walker had awesome numbers, any time I have seen the scorecard he's been among wickets. Quite surprised to see he has 80 wickets in 41 first class games @ 37 (37 is more than acceptable in our conditions) and 29 @ 44 in 35 List A games. He's definitely one of our top offies in the...

Quite a change of fortune for Rob O'Donnell. From averaging under 30 in probably all formats couple of years ago to captaining the NZ A side. No surprises with the squad but really disappointing not a single player from the last two editions of U19 in the side. Good to see Matt Fisher in the...

I'm all for young ones, absolutely. If they're good enough they should be in there particularly if it's a given they're going to play for NZ for good number of years. Wearing them out in domestic cricket for years definitely doesn't help. It's not that hard to pick that kind of players and they...

But then these guys have also done their bit for years and deserve a longer rope. Despite the millions they want to win games for nz. They can just move on but then they try to give it everything even at that stage of their careers.

I don't get why Kane even on this surface wouldn't bowl out Santner and Bracewell. Either he relies on Southee and Trent or doesn't rate our spinners. Probably both. He did that in the last t20 as well

You surely would have read past the bit where Taylor was told off by Victoria for not performing and the doubts about being able to keep his spot for the WTC finals creeping in. Taylor's thoughts about Gary and Ronchi prior to the WTC finals. His question to Kane if he was going to be dropped...

Don't want to take away your thrill of reading through the book but you'll be surprised how ruthless Gary and Larsen were to Taylor despite him being a legend. Don't think it was reserved just for him.

Since the last year or so it's the batting that's often let us down. Kane will obviously score plenty of runs in future but his nicking off must be a concern. He's getting out quite regularly after looking like he can't do a thing wrong. We rely so much in Conway. Can't expect Allen to score...

Like the looks of Sinclair and Cariah. Fairly accurate, they both turn the ball at good pace. Pretty impressive
