    Haha God that's so close.

Been a great hour for India, not too dissimilar from Australia's first session in the field yesterday. Big test for Smith and Renshaw.

Best figures ever by an Australian in India?

Was given out caught though. As I said I think it was out but I'm surprised it was given.

I do think he hit that but it's a surprisingly confident decision for the third umpire to make. Normally I'd expect a benefit of the doubt type call there given how close bat and pad were and the lack of hotspot.

Yeah. Half of his 5 wicket hauls (4 of 8) are against India interestingly. Two at home and two here.

Been helped by the conditions also. Lyon getting plenty of bounce on this pitch, not too slow etc, which I think suits them more than a lot of surfaces you could get in this part of the world. But yeah great preparation and so on. As good as Lyon has ever bowled and I can't remember two...

Yeah I don't think this pitch is a road or anything but some of the dismissals have been well short of what you expect from India against spin. Nair's premeditated charge there for example just seemed totally unnecessary. Still, I can see this being pretty hard to bat on in the second innings so...

This partnership has only been going for half an hour or so but it's really the first time India have looked on top with the bat in the series. Looks more like a normal tour of India. edit: Just as I say that, pretty poor way to get out.

    Nair looks great.

Might be true but Kohli has gotten out early in each innings, which can happen to anyone, and I feel he'll make a significant score at some point in the series. I don't know if that's true of Rahane.

This is as good as Lyon has ever bowled I think. Been amazing today.

Mitch Marsh's batting record in the subcontinent is way better than everywhere else. Mostly an indictment on his batting elsewhere, but still. Averages over 30 in the subcontinent with both his half-centuries scored there, average elsewhere is under 20.

The SOK spell actually reminded me a lot of Clarke in Mumbai in 2004. Really felt like he was just putting it in the right area and the pitch was doing most of the work. Really doing a lot out there and if Australia can set India like 300 its pretty hard to see it being chased.

Surely not, there's lots of turn there and plenty of spinners have taken big hauls on dustbowls in India before. Hell, Michael Clarke took 6 for 9. Great post-lunch spell though.

I can't express how much I wish Warne was still commentating. Never thought I'd say that.

Man, this is some Bevan level stuff. One of the great ODI knocks.

    19th Match - India v Australia (27th March)

Amazing innings from Kohli. Had a feeling India were likely winners as long as he was at the crease but didn't think he'd do it so easily.

Really don't think that was a particularly bad over from Faulkner. First two balls were pretty much spot on and both went for boundaries. Just terrific batting.

Completely ridiculous shot from Kohli. Crazy to be able to hit that for four.
