    RIP Duncan Fearnley

Sad news, first proper bat I had was a Duncan Fearnley Magnum in 88. I vaguely remember there was a glossy newsletter that had articles by some of the players using the bats. Back then Crowe, Border, Hick, Botham used them. Richards, Gooch, had also played a lot with them. Rest in peace.

Exactly. We saw this play out in Rocky IV: Rocky : Look, you're a great fighter no doubt about that but we've got to face the facts too, maybe you don't want to believe it but maybe the show's over. Apollo : That's easy for you to say you're still on top what happens when you're on top then...

That didn't help his chances although Raval initially got replaced by Blundell after the tour to Australia. He would probably fare better than Latham who was looking like being the next captain a couple of years ago.

Steve Waugh - the overrated test captain

This is a good point. Interestingly, Craig McMillan who obviously played most of his career under Fleming rated Shane Warne the best captain he played under (based on a season at Hampshire).

I didn't think he had any captaincy experience, but I see he was entrusted with leading the NZ XI in 2020. Santner could be another option given they are using him to captain the T20 side now...

What's the story behind Henry's improvement in tests? Is it just getting new ball opportunities.

Which I don't mind tbh. Ravindra is doing fine at 4 and Young has the technique to see off the new ball. Got out to Marsh and Head.

He was top Plunket Shield wicket taker and did well on the A tour series win against Australia A that O'Rourke also did well on. Unfortunately, since Plunket Shield finished he probably hasn't played anything other than T20 in the recently concluded UAE competition. Assuming O'Rourke is fit...
