    Afridi Announces Retirement

It's a real shame for cricket though if it is a permanent retirement. I gotta put my hand up here, I'm a massive fan of him as a cricketer and reckon he's made a really good captain in a tough environment. Once people took heed of the fact that his batting was a bonus rather than his livelihood...

    Cricket australia contracts

I'm with Corey. Can't see him getting one - plus, we are flat out trying to find 1 international spinner let alone including 3 or 4 in the group. Reckon Hauritz might return to favour with Clarke as skipper too, think Haurie and Ponting weren't on great terms by the end.

    Cricket australia contracts

Can't see Beer getting one - won't take 3 spinners on the list. First time in a long time though we don't have a real standout obvious group of 25 - Warner might sneak on being in the 'A' FC side as well.

That's the one. The bit where the Pakistani keeper pulls his legs back always makes me laugh

Gday Rob. Got the footage of Mahanama getting hit in the nads 2 balls in a row by Wasim by any chance mate? Some serious light relief in watching that clip! By the way mate, absolutely love the vids, especially the Aussie domestic stuff from the 1990's. Great time to grow up watching cricket.

Butterworth or Cowan frm Tassie might be a chance, always a bolter in the list who performed well in the Sheild Final.

    McDermott Australia bowling coach

Understand the point of jobs-for-the-boys but reckon Langer reeks of that really badly, where as McDermott doesn't so much. All jibes aside about his career after cricket, he was pretty decently removed from cricketing circles before he came back into the coaching fold a few years ago. He...

    McDermott Australia bowling coach

Surely if Donald was the best choice, he'd have got the job? He might have been the best bowler of the candidates, but that doesn't make him the best fit for the job, it is more complex than that. I reckon McDermott is a good pick based on 2 main factors: 1) He's got an intimate knowledge of...

No runners ever and yes to UDRS

Yeah but this is exactly why I'd be getting rid of runners. I genuinely don't mind them if someone has torn a hamstring etc. but jeez, guys who make a big score and start running out of puff and cramping up, that is a fitness issue. The fact that guys can have runners for being unfit and...

    Donald's coaching future

You can have Brendon Julian and Luke Ronchi back if you like

    English Domestic Season 2011

Reckon that Gregory looks like a talent for a bloke just under 19 - very sharp for someone that age and seems to be pretty disciplined with his line and length as well. Interesting to watch Mendis - one of the great flashes in the pan it seems. There isn't much on what he bowls, plus there...

    English Domestic Season 2011

Righto, fair enough. Trott and Bell just seem so well suited to 3 and 4 respectively for mine at nearly every level of the game - love how dogged Trott is at the crease, and how elegant Bell is when in flight which I like for those positions.

    English Domestic Season 2011

Happy to see the game televised on pay-tv here in Australia - good insight into some talent coming through, not seen Buttler or Hildreth bat before, but from all reports Buttler in particular is a very impressive player. Just out of interest, anyone know why Bell batted 3 and Trott 4 for their...

    Australian Domestic Offseason 2011

Yeah exactly. Plus, if the match hardened blokes are out of the side for a bunch of youngsters, who do they learn from? For example, I reckon it did a heap of good for a lot of the guys in Tassie back in the day to learn off guys like Hills, Cox, Young, Ridgeway, Marsh, and they've seen the...

    Australian Domestic Offseason 2011

Shock horror, we agree! There is a lot to be said for maing young guys pay their dues at every level of the game - as far down as grade cricket we are seeing the problems of guys not earning their stripes before they get opportunities. Playing against guys who may not play for Australia but are...
