**Official** West Indies in England 2012

Morgan looking terrific here I reckon. Looks so much stiller at the crease since I saw him and looks 100x the player for it.

**Official** West Indies in England 2012

As in the debut in which Pattinson was man of the match? But yes. In theory you are right that you can't take much out of a debut. Narine was definitely underwhelming though. His lack of control and patience was telling. Test cricket is very different to shorter form stuff - he doesn't need to...

**Official** West Indies in England 2012

Or in other words, welcome to Test cricket, it's rare that everything if anything will ever be in your favour. He was disappointing.

    Media influence in cricket

You've got to realise when reading this stuff that most of it is reporting based on 'sources' rather than opinion. Cricinfo's biggest crime is that it's sources are nowhere near as well in the loop as the press journo's, so they more often than not have incorrect mail. The newspapers etc have...

    Media influence in cricket

Cricinfo delivers its news by country, so anything published regarding England will appear higher on the news list than other stories. Nothing more to it than that. It just filters news by location of server.

    Whatever happened to Copeland?

Yeah agreed. He's a very good bowler but realistically his average will rise over time, he just doesn't have that extra gear required to get really good players in all conditions. That said, it's one thing getting favourable wickets, it's another to perform on them so he is no mug. All aside...

    Whatever happened to Copeland?

I've heard a couple of rumours about his dropping. It was absolutely justified on form etc that he was left out, and probably won't play Test cricket again. However the whisper I hear is that he hardly endeared himself to some of the senior guys - he's a pretty headstrong sort of a fella and...

Craig McDermott quits as Australia's bowling coach

Why does every thread require some useless commentary or bad joke? Was actually a really interesting discussion there for a while till a couple of useless chip ins.

Craig McDermott quits as Australia's bowling coach

Yep and admittedly that has been a big issue for him. The shame is he didn't really have much time with McDermott - would have liked to have seen what may have happened. Bowling plans for the Aussie attack during Johnson's time (or Ponting's captaincy) have been pretty changeable and haphazard...

Craig McDermott quits as Australia's bowling coach

Yeah, but isn't that the point? I think we are all happy to agree that him as a 'spearhead' type definitely didn't work. But you can't argue he's got a happy knack of getting wickets from nowhere, can produce unplayable spells and offers quite a lot with the bat to the balance of the side. I...

Craig McDermott quits as Australia's bowling coach

Sorry mate, story doesn't relate. Soccer is built at international level towards World Cup's. Every Test match in cricket is as important as any other If Johnson comes back, performs and demands selection you'd be mad not to at the very least consider him. This is a bloke with a Test 8-fer, 190...

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Na same ideals as John Wright. Wouldn't work with Buchanan.

*Unofficial* New Zealand Black Caps Thread

Buchanan is a clown - if it meant getting rid of him to keep Wright it should have been done. Wright really improved them as a Test side; Buchanan is probably out the back trying to teach Vettori how to bowl right arm meds. Poor result for NZ cricket.

    Commentating Standard thread

:) Not sure about that one, my understanding is that there aren't many Christmas cards between Bracken and past teammates, or anyone in Aussie cricket for that matter.

Yeah he's struggled with bat and gloves I reckon. Can't see him holding the job when Haddin/Paine return.

I blame Clarke's overturned decision in the first innings

***Official*** Australia in the West Indies 2012

Na mate, you did deserve to lose after your 2nd innings batting effort. That's where Test matches are won and lost - that 3rd innings - and the top/middle order can squarely be blamed for losing you that one. As for the Clarke 'dismissal' being the difference... See above point.

Wisden 2012 cricketers of the year

Alan Richardson; very good bowler, great bloke. Faced him one match when he was out here playing grade a few years ago. Didn't get a bad ball in his 12 over straight spell. I was so happy to have survived... Till he knocked me over last ball of his spell haha! Did have a chat after play and he...
