Rank the trophy in order of importance

And yes I agree that the importance of the WC is likely to slide.

Rank the trophy in order of importance

I think the Q is about how much you would value a win for your country in each tournament, and the Ashes is top of that pile for me. I greatly valued our massive, Trumpian landslide over NZ - and the world! - in the 2019 World Cup, but I still enjoy Ashes wins more. Partly because, as you've...

    *OFFICIAL* England in Pakistan 2024

Gosh. I can't say I saw this coming. What a couple of days for England.

    Graham Thorpe dies aged 55

You often see him referred to as nuggety, gritty etc and of course he was. But I always thought he was incredibly stylish: looked the absolute business at the crease, well balanced, got into good positions and had some great attacking shots - including but not limited to the Lara pull shot which...

    Graham Thorpe dies aged 55

Awful news. A really high class player, as others have a said. To go at such a young age is unbelievably sad.

    Spencer Johnson

I saw some very brief highlights on BBC. Just the wickets I think. He looked seriously fast and got movement. Starc on a good day.

Who would be your top 10 greatest Asian cricketers?

Imran Khan Tendulkar Murali Gavaskar Kohli Sangakkara Wasim Akram Javed Miandad Kapil Dev Dravid But I dunno really, would expect that a fair number of other spinners would also merit a place in this list - Bedi, Kumble, Abdul Qadir, maybe Shakib, maybe Herath

*Official* Fifth Test (The Oval, London) 27-31 July

I think I'd rather lose this to a great Aussie batting chase than draw it to the weather. Odds now in their favour in my view.

*Official* Fourth Test (Old Trafford, Manchester) 19-23 July

The only match which hasn't been close is the only one that's going to be drawn. Explain that to a non-cricket fan.

*Official* Third Test (Headingley, Leeds) 6–10 July

Great result for England. 3-0 was quite possible and at one stage the likelier result, but it wouldn’t have been a fair reflection of the teams over the course of the series. And it sets the series up nicely. The Manchester weather is looking predictably grim though from the forecast I’ve seen.

*Official* Second Test (Lord's, London) 28 June–2 July

There’s a lot of rubbish spoken about the Spirit of Cricket. But let’s not pretend that if it’s within the Laws it’s automatically ok. Trevor Chappell’s underarm was within the Laws and it was sneaky and embarrassing. Which is the category Australia again chose to place themselves into today.

*Official* Second Test (Lord's, London) 28 June–2 July

I see some Aussies here are defending it. I guess I’d be doing the same if the roles were reversed, but deep down I’d know that it’s the wrong way to play the game.

*Official* Second Test (Lord's, London) 28 June–2 July

A bit of respect lost for these Aussies yesterday and today. Bleating, inanely, about a catch that clearly wasn’t, then maintaining an appeal like that to dismiss Bairstow. Bit of a pity. Not saying England would have done any differently, though you’d hope they, or any team, would have...

Just read this. Absolutely vicious news. And yes best wishes to the great man and his family.

*Official* First Test (Edgbaston, Birmingham) 16–20 June

A great game of cricket, some crazy aspects to it for sure, but amazing entertainment. Congats to Australia for getting over the line. Well deserved victory.
