    The Golf Thread

I think one thing that would help is switching to Ryder Cup format and only playing 4 pairs matches per session which helps negate the obvious strength in depth the US has. They probably need to get the LIV guys in there, Smith and Niemann for a couple of Canadians would probably have helped...

And yet the best all rounder since these awards began seems to have the opposite of this. Kallis was a law unto himself.

Kind of weird that Ashwin has more Series Awards than Match, only Strauss has similar and his are even weirder. Crazy that Kallis has that many POM and so few MOS in comparison

It's hard to think of any other manager in the Prem who would do a worse job than him. Even Russell Martyn would be a step up....

I would argue that because he slipped he lost all impetus and when he actually made contact, there was literally zero chance of a serious injury happening. The fact he made contact with his heel made it even more so. A red card should be for dangerous play where there's a risk of an injury...

    The Hundred could be scrapped

Amazing that even now he's well into retirement he can continue to find new ways for people to dislike him.

Tbh, I think both are below top class and get found out by high quality bowling. There were times in that series when Hazlewood made Salt look pretty ropey. It feels like the best you're going to get from Salt in a T20 is 20 off 10 before he skies or misses one.

The only one I can think of who may turn out to be a decent signing is Hojlund, but that's very much up in the air.

Was it better for the Canada game? Canada v England in the final match will probably turn out to be the decider. A shame the Canadians are not playing NZ this time, it might've left NZ going home winless.

    *Official* 2024 Women's T20 World Cup thread

I think it would've worked in Bangladesh, but in the UAE there's definitely more help for the seamers (as Bell showed in that warm up). It was bizarre that they didn't consider changing their squad when the location changed. Cross really should be in there. More warm ups today, Eng v NZ, Aus v...

True, but I think we learnt we should always have a 4th seamer. Although, that could yet be Stokes if he returns for the Champions Trophy. To be honest, I'm not convinced by Salt in any format. He's still riding off those tons in the WI and hasn't done a whole lot since. I'd sooner see Buttler...

Marsh has always come across as a bit of a jokey maverick, who doesn't take things too seriously, so maybe not that surprising.

To be fair, there's not been a lot in it for the seamers in these matches. Potts actually emerges with real credit compared to all the others, and Carse proved he wasn't totally arse. Very much borne out by the fact the best bowling averages in the series of those who took 3 wickets or more...

Those 3 were in England anyway so would've been obvious selections. Didn't Bartlett get injured in Scotland? Behrendorff must be past it now.

Which is bigger - The Ashes or BGT?

Well on that score we should discount all the series in the 90's as England had a severely weakened side.......I mean no excuses, just a severely weak side!!

At this rate they could have a lead of 100 and time for 5 overs at the Bangladeshi openers tonight....

Who could've come instead? I thought it a bit odd that Starc and Hazlewood made the trip. Hazlewood generally bowled well, Starc generally didn't.

That's kind of my point. Utd have chucked millions around and have seemingly not ended up with much quality. Mount replacing Mainoo after the Bruno sending off was very funny in so many ways....
