  • Interesting. Didn't think a routine like that would be possible for long. Fair enough.

Should just get plastered after a hard day instead:ph34r:
I say this as a complete outsider who doesn't know your Dad at all, so I don't doubt you, but, generally, generally if you touch the substance after quitting you relapse and relapse hard. The cycle starts again if you get what I mean.

But I realise I'm in no position to make judgements.
Without knowing him or his situation, I suspect your Dad is what I think they call a 'dry drunk". Probably not even that. He's still just as at risk as he was at the peak of his addiction, because he's basically still addicted. He's just putting in a bit of effort so he can tell himself he's trying.

But once you're addicted, you're very much up the creek. I'm not quite sure what the numbers are but a high number of addicts genuinely try to quit their substances and just can't. Takes enormous willpower to manage.

People do it to themselves for a variety of reasons. Some people are so miserable they'll turn to anything, some people think it's cool, some people are very susceptible to addictions and either do the old try a fag in school and get hooked, babies can get addicted to substances because they're born with them or in extremely rare cases, drugs needed to save prem babies lives can **** with the wiring.

There's a million reasons under the sun.
In reply to you in the Gears thread: Some people who have experience with kicking an addiction will not take kindly to the "how hard can x be?" attitude.

No harm done though mate. I understand where you're coming from and people smoking to look cool and **** infuriates me because they're digging themselves a hole that other people are forced into (and I'm reffering to people who have even more complex reasons than just smoking to find some relief in life), but no one ever 'intends" to get addicted and there are many who are like GIMPY and Sledge describe as well.

I actually feel sorry for even the people who think it was a good idea in the end when they try to give up, because it's pretty painful and they're very very sorry for making such a dumb call by the end of it.

But anyway, no harm done and it would be a lot better if the cigarette companies simply burned in hell. We can dream.
If you want to start a HOF thread, that's okay. But I don't think it's appropriate for me to copy a deleted post to you, sorry. :)
Heya, that's cool, I will try to think of some more nominations :)

The thread was deleted because of the multi, and to stop any controversy. What do you want it for?
    yeah, certainly

would go with 'moments' rather than tests, myself, but see what the people think
Fabianski can't get near enough the ball to throw it in his own net.

And anyway, throwing the ball in your own net is the cool thing to do these days.
    Haha.

Oh, and I did see the games and I stand by the fact that Fabianski is worse than a cold, naked, dripping-wet, blindfolded, limbless Pepe Reina.
I did and I stand by the fact he is worse than a cold, naked, dripping-wet, blindfolded, limbless Pepe Reina.
Did the person below just say Fabianski is decent? ****. I'm getting out of here.
Don't want to jinx this but..........

Fabianski might actually be a good footballer? I hope.
