  • I wouldn't be overly surprised at 1-0 Pakistan, tbh. The England batting lineup has been a wee bit too collapse happy in the warm ups for me to say that I can't see Pakistan taking a Test off us. But the fact that your bet includes the 1-1 means it looks quite safe to me.
The man is a ****ing beast. What a machine. Love Kallis, and I also love watching him bat. Especially in the last 3 years.
I'm with you on that. I can see there's a valid argument that Kallis is less likely to take a game away from you than a Ponting, Lara or Tendulkar. But that's valid as the differentiator between those players if you even consider it valid. To condemn the comparison as 'laughable' is, in itself, laughable.
For some people it clearly makes a difference. I don't think it's murky water though, I think people do naturally have a tendency to prefer those players they've (i) seen more and (ii) seen come through the ranks and up to the Test level. Personally, nationality means nothing to me and I tend to support individual players more than teams (Essex and Wellington excluded). I'm not even a big fan of Kallis, but I can certainly see there's a pretty fine argument to be had that he is the greatest batsman of this generation. Not one I would necessarily agree with, but he's definitely in that top rank.
Yeah, such a bull**** call by Marc. Yeah, let's filter one guy's results and compare them to everyone else's unfiltered results. Such utter cack. Kallis' problem is that he's just not fashionable. If he'd played prior to 1990 he'd have been one of the all time greats. The 'selfish' call really irks me 'cos if he was selfish he'd have given up the bowling. Grrrr.
I don't even remember my lineup. It was Shri's team anyway. I only took over when he left the forum. If he doesn't want to post it, I'll do it.

    I have:

    Sachin/Lara/Ponting
    Kallis/Dravid/Sanga

    Then you have
    Inzy/Yousuf/Hayden/Sehwag/Mahela etc. etc.

But I don't think saying Kallis is better than Ponting is as preposterous as some think it is, or were saying it was in the thread. Same with saying Kallis > Lara or Sachin. I may disagree, but its not laughable.

Did not include Steve Waugh because of the 15 year period you gave me.
Yeah I can imagine. I take it it's due soon? It's the long holidays here ATM so the idea of Uni work for most people is a bit alien I think.
I'm sure there have been worse teams; even worse performing teams; but it's a nice idea for a thread anyway. There are surely the worst performing team in FC cricket right now though; they get rolled for about 100 every ****ing game.
    Rainsford bossing it.
    Southern Rocks 94/6 (47.5 ov, T Kamungozi 14*, H Matanga 18*, AG Cremer 0/26) | Live Scorecard | ESPN Cricinfo

The Rocks could seriously be the worst team ever though. Might be worth starting a thread.
