  • well everybody who likes that comment was going to receive 6/10. i actually forgot to chuck in an "xx" at the end of it so i pass on my apologies.
Thankfully nobody here trolls about it. So many morons on other forums still post nonsense about the fans being to blame, or worse, post nonsense about "justice for the 39".
Haha yes I noticed once I'd got through all my subscribed threads with new posts in them. Terrible looking page.
I view all my subscribed threads before I view New Posts, and I've been out. It's probably going to be a while before I even see the spam. :p
Yeah of course it does. Tim Vickery has always put it well, that of all the unimportant things in life, football is the most important.
Yeovil are doing so well just to be competitive, compare them to a club like QPR and the gap is insane. I have felt for a while that the gap between bottom of the premiership and top of the championship is not all that great so am totally with you there.

I just have faith in the survival of lower league football, the fan culture just keeps it going, the chance for a small team to make it big without money is zero but being part of that pyramid is all that matters. Agree about the loan system, we have had some brilliant ones that I will never forget (Szczesny) but yeah you want them for the season, one month is dire. Have always said that if we got Chelsea B or whatever then that would be it for me as a real football fan, we must never let it happen.
More importantly I think that the lower league culture in England is still so strong. The English game gets a lot criticism (I do it myself an awful lot) but the one thing that it has that no other country does is the amazing depth of support and I don’t think that is going to go away. Having said that I do think a sort of Prem 2 is possible, there are plenty of rich and ambitious clubs in the championship these days.
Hey don’t blame you at all, losing to Stevenage is one of the worst things, we have done it plenty of times the last few years.

8,000 probably slightly inflated because Bradford take a lot but we normally get at least at 6-7,000 this season and it is not long ago we were down at about 4,000 in league 2.

Could not agree more about the EPPP it is an awful idea and a very harmful one. I don't share your pessimism for the future of lower league football though. One of the good things about the number of foreign players in the top flight is that there are plenty of talented youngsters who are now playing at a lower level, we have a couple from Everton who were on loan but have now signed with upon a permanent basis.
We have always been a small club (smaller than you are traditionally) compared to those around us, it is not just Chelsea, there are so many clubs in London to choose from but crowds will always go up with success. We got 8,000 today which we would never have got for a standard league game a few years ago and as much as a I don’t want to leave Griffin Park those numbers will only rise if we are in a new ground and playing in the Championship. Sure they may not be hardcore fans, they may even support Chelsea or whoever as their first team but that it is a price worth paying.

Basically you have to stay in league one and just get lucky, football clubs very rarely die so I am sure you time will come.
Oh yeah I know what you are going through. January 2006 we were top of the league 1 and had just beaten Sunderland in the FA cup, two years later and we were struggling badly in league 2 with the move to Lionel Road seemingly dead. Luckily our future had been secured by the fans who had bought the club and then we got a massive stroke of luck with Matthew Benham coming in. Hate to say it but that is pretty much what you need to really move upwards these days.
We have all been there and it is ****.

Plenty of sides down there though, few wins and it will look ok. What is the manager situation?
We kind of need the 3 points you know.

I can't believe you will be as bad as Bradford were today though.
What days are you going to Old Trafford again for the India Test? Should probably get round to sorting that out, have VMd Jono to see if he's going to be in the UK.
Probably slim to **** all mate, reckon we'll be staying in Manchester on the Saturday night then we'll need to shoot back up to Glasgow after the game because at the moment I'm working on the Monday - I've tried to book it as a holiday but what with it being the first working day of the new tax year, time's off's pretty restricted on that day
