  • I'm currently writing an essay on the anti-Apartheid movement and have managed to get a discussion of the D'Oliveira Affair in there. While massively simplifying the issue, I have managed to get a quote from one Martin Chandler in there. Any idea if he's a reliable source?
Much obliged Fred. In appreciation of your efforts, should our paths cross then there's a drink in it for you too!
Can't really help you I'm afraid. TBH people personally involved in the Devon Leagues may work out better. Pickup or Marcuss maybe. I used to know some myself in pubs and the like, but ever decreasing circles and all that.

    sorry
    Pete
Hey Fred, I know you've asked for it a few times, so thought I better let you know Sheep Draft has started up once again. Would be great if you could take part.
There's people like Stephen Chalke at Fairfield Books, whose stuff is all excellent, though you seldom see it in Waterstones, but the more minority tastes are covered by the likes of John McKenzie and Chris Saunders, but I don't know whether they would want a mainstream outlet - they ought to, but then antiquarian book dealers are an odd bunch!
It is just a database that tells you if something is available or not and where you can get it from. We order most of our stuff from wholesalers but we get things straight from the publishers as well. I just put through the order on the system and powers above make sure that they get it at the best price. I will have a look through all the articles and reviews but if there is anything else just let me know.
If it is available on Nielsen (book database) then I can get whatever I like really, unfortunately an awful lot of stuff is not in print anymore. Come up with as many as you want really and when I am next in I will see what I can get.

Maybe easier if you e-mail me them. Adress is jack_firth@hotmail.com
Hey, just got a quick question for you. I have recently started working at Foyles in Waterloo and have managed to get myself the sport section to look after. It is not massive by any means but I wanted to get at least a few interesting titles in that you might not find in your standard mid-sized book shop so thought you may have a few recommendations. Obviously it has to be stuff that is in print but apart from that I can get hold of most things. I have of course already got in Masterly Batting and it is proudly on display.

On a somewhat related note I be very happy to do a few reviews for the site if I am wanted.
Hi Fred. The penultimate pick in Round 11 is yours. Once Morgieb picks after you then we can begin the final Round. Cheers and thanks, Sheldon
At the moment I'd say Competition/EU and Discrimination would be the two main areas I've most enjoyed and would be most interested in practicing in. A black mark against Gray's then :p
    Hi Martin,
I'm off for an interview with the Inner Temple on Saturday so was wondering if there was any advice you could offer?
Also, to you, what are the main discernible differences between the inns?

    Cheers!
Hi Martin. Don't want to be pushy but your 12 hours are up, and I wouldn't want to see you miss out on your favourite pick. Cheers watson/Sheldon
Hi Martin, off the top of your head do you know if anyone's done a feature on the England 'mother-in-law' trip to Pakistan in 1984? I thought I might do something on it, 30th anniversary and all that.
Don't know if you have some info on this but Romford suits my needs, however all the Housing Authorities I spoke to have said that they only offer the shared ownership to those living or working in Romford (which I don't - I live in Harrow and work in Westminster). Is there a way to make a case for myself or anyway I can get a property?
OK cheers. Problem at the moment is that everytime I like a property someone else has already reserved it. Properties in London are really difficult to get. But as soon as I arrange for something I'll let you know and give you my email address.
Let me know what you're paying for the place, whether its freehold or leasehold, and I'll get someone to email a quote to you - so I'll need an email address too
I don't want to get ripped off on this, so was hoping you could either recommend someone you know or maybe your firm could do it.
