Appreciate the insight. Kids my age don't really have much to draw from, but you've got like 250 years of work experience so I figured you might have been through something similar.

Really don't want to wake up to regrets when I'm older. Be a cranky, miserable, middle-aged salaryman who takes his pent up regret and frustration out on young kids on the internet. Could you imagine?

I'm leaning towards taking the opportunity. Just going to have to suck it in and work hard and not shitpost here for a while. The forum would be dead without me, but that's the price I gotta pay I suppose.

Need some insight on something Burgey

Got a job opportunity in my dream industry, but for a role I'll be completely out of my depth for. Zero prior experience, gotta learn all the relevant skills from scratch. They're willing to bet on me, but expect me to hit the ground running, and if i can't pick it up quick i'll be fired. In order to take this I'll have to leave my stable job where I'm competent and in line for a promotion. No difference in pay, if anything I'll be taking a pay cut by shifting roles. Don't know if I can return to current post if this doesn't work out. Don't know if I'll get another opportunity like this in the future.

What do you think. Take the risk or let it pass and wait for a more suitable opportunity.

Might be for the best. It's hard to know how much truth there is to the Hayne = cancer meme but that he hasn't been part of a successful squad since 2009 when he's been among the most talented players in living memory sort of hints that there may be something there.

I get heated on occasion in that forum but I appreciate that everyone there is coming from a place of wanting the best outcome for as many as possible. Definitely see where you (and others on the left) are coming from even if I disagree vigorously with the solution.

Life is going well Burg. That stuff with the old man is fine, we're back to healthily nodding to each other like all men should. The rampant alcoholism is under control too, only drinking when I'm alone now so I'm cured.

The saving grace of Australia is that it's so roomy that I'll have minimal interaction with actual Australians.

Don't think it would be much fun travelling around Australia at all tbh. But it will be worth the misery to watch BD wreck you guys at home.

I don't think I'll be coming to Australia for atleast another 5 years. I barely get time off work, and have a list of other places I want to go to before Australia
