Cricket stuff that doesn't deserve its own thread

Whatever it takes!!!

The scholar's perspective of the game. Guy is doing his Ph.D even after the IPL riches. Good bloke. I hope he can make it as an all-format player. Ticks a lot of boxes our side needs.

Love how almost all of his answers are focussed around "how can my team win the game and how can I help towards that". Its such a basic and simple way of seeing the game that many fail to do as they go through the ranks, not just in India but everywhere these days.

Virat has accepted responsibility for his deplorable actions during BGT and says "he doesn't feel great about those things myself".

Virat said:
"My competitiveness has not gone down. So, I think for a lot of people, it's very difficult to process how is the competitiveness going to be at the same level if the aggression is not. You can still be aggressive in your mind, but you don't necessarily need to express it out there every now and then out of frustration, which I have - I mean, in the recent past as well, which is not a great thing, to be honest, I don't feel great about those things myself."

Good to see him feel this way as it shows at least he is able to process it correctly now. Hopefully he stays better behaved and hopefully this helps him find his best form soon, as he doesn't seem to be going away from the test side. :(

These articles do gimme hope.

BCCI hasn’t banned families . Players are allowed to be with family for 2 weeks in a long tour . If Guy wants to be with family 100% time , then he should fund stay of his family in the nearby hotels . Doubt BCCI will stop him .

Really don't see why BCCI should even care about such things beyond trying to help their players as much as possible.
Because players weren’t travelling in Team Bus . First Kohli/Rohit started to arrive to the ground separately during practice sessions, then Bumrah also started following same . So what will happen is that players will stop using Team Bus and start using Uber/Ola to arrive on ground.
Also many players weren’t reporting to practice sessions and opting to spend time with their family members

What does this have to do with the cricket being played though? There's much stronger reasons for success/failure than how they travel to grounds and practice or how much time they spend with family.

I think there is definite merit in ensuring players turn up for team meetings and team dinners and the bonding that happens that way. I do get the feeling the current players' families have taken it too far the other extreme and maybe insist the players spend every moment outside the ground with them etc. There has to be a balance. The players' partners need to understand its a team sport and there will be team stuff happening even outside the park and they need to be part of the team activities etc. There is nothing wrong in them being with the players as long as they understand these things but I guess that is where they are facing issues now.

It is still a mystery to me why Yousuf Youhana became Md. Yousuf? Was it to become Captain ?
Not even sure wtf this post is. People don't typically convert for captaincy, especially since he was already VC and had the honor of being the first ever Christian Pakistani captain. I'm sure he had personal reasons for converting that I don't recall him ever sharing. I do know he went pretty deep into it, even missing matches to go preaching. That's something Inzi and Saeed never did.

I saw this the other and it's absolutely a disgusting attitude. You don't even have to be a sufi to be tolerant of others. Just not be a ****.
when righteousness gets in the mix it's always a difficult situation. people that believe they are divinely ordained develop a complex which sort of extricates them from usual senses of morality or common courtesy
