South Africa team selection

Ah Trevor Quirk, I thought I heard the tinkle of a whiskey glass during commentary for a minute there
Love the loose shirts.
😂 Good ol' Quirky. SABC was good coverage with him. Quality voice.

Must be feeling a little lonely these days, all his golfing partners in Hylton Ackerman, Andre Bruyns & Robin Jackman have passed on.

So do we envision anyone moving on on their own post another failed ICC tournament? Or Rob buck the conservative SA mindset and move some on by himself.

We need to rejuvenate for the WC 27. Maybe this side can make another semi but clear they can't win it.

I mean you gotta give some of the youngsters that have been doing good a shot. But don't we only have like 11 games between now and the WC?

The thing that is pissing me off is our bowlers, I have seen this before. Getting smashed but keep doing the same things wrong over and over. Isnt it the captains job to say to the bowler to change something instead of keep on getting smashed. And I am talking about experienced bowlers here not some greenhorn

I don't believe Rob Walter should be coach, we haven't been great at white ball cricket coming into the Champions Trophy.

You can't be bad at bilaterals and not win tournaments, all that experimentation and we still couldn't trust a second spinner in these conditions while the teams that are in the final can play 3-4 spinners at a time. You can't rely on Markram as a 6th bowler he's averaging 60 with the ball since 2023 , they took ages to bring Linde back into the international set up when he was performing week in and week out for Province , we could have put more pressure on Brevis to develop his legbreaks so atleast we had more options from batsmen rather than just Markram. Did we pick a squad that gave us flexibility based on the conditions ? It looks like we just tried to copy and paste the World Cup 2023 gameplan .

I felt from the start you should have played Shamsi over Ngidi and maybe more of a bowling allrounder over Mulder. That new guy perhaps?
Bosch would have gotten absolutely smashed here. Hardly has any variations and is very inconsistent with line & length.
Presume that is the new guy you referred to.

Whatever it takes!!!

Yes but I think with Rabada and Jansen with the new ball and potentially Markram bowling a few in the first PP, you could have used Bosch and Shamsi with Maharaj through the middle overs. I Just feel it would have been a far better balance for you guys than what you ended up having.
