took 76-87 (11 years) and added the WSC figures, I usually add WSC figures
76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87 (12 years) Seems illogical but its because numbers start at 1, not 0 and we’re going from beginning to end of years)

I think Sutcliffe is rated higher around these parts today than when he retired
After a certain point of time, people will forget how you play and remember only the numbers and statistics.

1. Even if you take 25 Tests as the minimum criteria, only two batsmen have an average above the mythical 60 - Bradman & Sutcliffe

2. Sutcliffe also managed to score end his career with an average of 60.73 despite playing 54 Test matches and scoring 4555 runs.

3. There is also something magical about a batsman never having his average drop below 60 and only batsmen in history who did it is Sutcliffe

Cricket and Chess are the two games where I feel like the modern audience loves knowing about the past, I think people would always read into past Cricketers

Other than being obviously a far better Batsmen, Sutcliffe was also (most likely) a better person, kept his hair instead of going bald in 20s, was less revolting to look at, and unlike Geoffrey's harsh words, Sutcliffe has a beautiful way with words, plus he's a Hutton fan like myself

Herbert Sutcliffe talking about Sir Len Hutton said:
“Hutton has not yet received his Yorkshire cap, and he is no more than 18 years old, but I am bold enough to say that he is a certainty for a place as England’s opening batsman. He is a marvel — the discovery of a generation. At the age of 14 he was a good enough batsman to play from most county sides, and season by season since then I have watched his progress steadily … This boy will be a power in the land before many moons, and I should not be surprised to find him attracting as much attention as any batsman, including the great Don [Bradman], for his style and his polished skill must triumph.
won't be wrong to say that Sutcliffe beat Boycott in every regard of life.
