Because the team's batting first got under par scores. Neither Bangladesh nor Pakistan challenged India with anything decent.
If aus can put up 300 they will be in the game especially in a final, 275-280 may also work.

I think they see him being their version of Ravindra, he bats left handed and can also bowl some left arm spin except he isn't anywhere near as good.
