South Africa Domestic Season 2024/25

So you saying Smith, ngidi and fortuin and de zorzi and prince basically quotas? Disagree on this. As Donovan ferreira ? Bavuma 2nd choice, etc some of your non poc options as Replacements don't merit what you say by way of stats only one I totally agree with is Linde is top 2 spinners , the rest is debatable
I haven't said this , I just rate other players higher if all things are considered equal

Donovan Ferreira averages 38 in List A cricket with a SR of 138 there are probably only a handful of players in the world with that List A SR, he also bowls handy off spin averaging 28 I'd have that over Jason Smith all day of the week ..A lot of Protea sides we pick are one dimensional and so it makes sense to me to have more all round options

Bavuma is second choice because he'll be 37 by 2027 , and every top order player in my first xi has a higher ceiling or a better power hitting ability.

Ngidi is injury prone , De Zorzi does not have a higher ceiling than any openers on this list, Have you seen how well Kyle Simmonds is playing for WP and in the SA T20 ? He's absolutely gun he averages 25 in List A and can turn the ball , hes way better than Fortuin. Prince could make top 30

This is so key. There are good players across all races in their own right. And then quota player gets labelled on a player and it's also so unfair on them, put in an unnatural position of promotion. The question asked should always be who is the best player amongst the competition for places. This drives individuals on to be the best they can be.

Shoe on the other foot. Bird and Smith haven't been kicking on this season when all indications were with fair opportunity they would. Who knows if they could have kicked on but the minute Verreynne/Bedingham are back they are out and they see worse performers than them playing.

It's all not good for the mental understanding on both sides. It also created false perceptions.

It's also been fun listening to Dwaine Pretorius do domestic Comms.

He has been giving many personal stories and also great tactical insight.

The franchise system basically made the smaller provinces feeders and they lost their accountability so that was the negative of the franchise system. But strength v strength, 6 teams, only 4 POC (no specifics) and most of the time that was met easily.

He spoke of how difficult it was at North West (with Gauteng) to break into the Lions team. Guys put in hard yards in Provincial 3-day cricket and 1-day cricket. So many top players cut their teeth there and it was super competitive. He mentioned someone like Rassie Vd Dussen scoring mountains of runs for NW and struggled to get into the Lions team.

But the competition for places drove up standards.

Markram, Klaasen etc played for Northerns for quite a number of times. Bedingham had seasons with Boland. These are our current guys.

Going to be a dog fight. Can you imagine the players that have to move and how it will create a domino effect for contracting.

Matthew boast had a good outing yesterday for the titans with the ball.3/33 from his ten while everyone else went at over 5.
He will be chuffed with that. Had some good red ball performances for the Titans, first good white-ball one. Every time he is on TV the Comms say he is a big bloke 😂

They pushing for two African batsmen at world cup so think at this point its Temba and de Zorzi nailed, unless an allrounder comes through.
