Botham, Flower's wicket keeping is virtually worthless and Beefy wins an all rounder vs batter comparison. I see Botham as more of a 36 avg bat/26 avg ball type player than what he ended up with at the end due to going on too long, but I'd take that over Flower comfortably.

Kinda ridiculous to compare a WK with an AR

But I'd go Flower. Botham had a GOATed peak but fell off very quickly. Flower had a solid 10 years, even more if not for Mugabe. He could've been a much better batter if not for constantly coming much earlier than a normal no. 5 does.

I'd disagree, Mugabe saga cut years but it also cut off a potential decline phase such that Gilly had to go through,Flower being a bad keeper just kills his chances here

Years played before his decline is used against Botham but he played a hell of a lot of cricket in those years which took a toll. Lifestyle didn't help, but England completely overworked him. Averages of 36 and 26 in those first 80 tests as a high impact player in both disciplines.

I think in general, seam bowling all rounders should get more leeway for performance sustainability. Kapil's overall record isn't outstanding and never was at any point of his career, but his durability is super impressive.
