So this is looking pretty good. I'll have to catch highlights of Young and Lathams' innings.

Very pleased to see Young go on and get a hundred, when he so often looks serene and then finds a way to get out.

And pleased to see Latham play exactly the innings he's in the side for in these conditions. When you have a certain set of requirements you should call... The Specialist.

I prefer the way England lose, you're never left wondering for too long. But this is death by a thousand cuts.

What is Babar doing?

Smith still yet to bowl, there might not be any need for him to bowl with Phillips, Bracewell and Santner bowling so well and keeping the runs down.

If Rachin is in the side the third seamer would be pretty much redundant here. Even so might bowl only 3-4 overs out of fifty. Honestly I suspect they picked Smith as much for his batting as anything else here.

Was wondering the same, reckon they'll probably give him a token bowl if we have them 6-7 down and on the ropes. If these are the conditions we're going to see through the tournament perhaps Rachin comes back in for Smith?

Finally some good commentary with Smithy and Doully commentating together, Smithy is getting chirpy but Doully is still trying to keep a lid on it.

This whole chunk

That might work for him in bilaterals against second string lineups. But this is a big event. The scoreboard pressure comes at you much harder. Rohit Sharma was much better at this style of cricket than Babar ever was; but he realized that it isn't going to work anymore and changed his style accordingly.

Babar is a chasing machine and an ODI GOAT. This is very achievable if he sticks around. He has gone at a run a ball since Rizwan got out and they've seen off the threat of the new ball attack scything through a Pakistani team that can be prone to collapse. Guy never gets anywhere near the credit he deserves because he doesn't play exciting cricket.
Babar has made 565 runs in 15 games @41.14 and a strike rate of 94 in 280+ chases since the 2019 WC. Decent numbers, but I haven't even checked whether these are full strength or second string attacks.

As I said, he's one of the best No. 3s in the world for sure. But you're throwing around the word GOAT too casually. That's reserved for guys like Kohli and AB who used to chase 280+ scores for fun even at a time when bilaterals were taken seriously unlike now.
