South Africa Domestic Season 2024/25

Quite like the look of this offie for Warriors, Jason Raubenheimer. Nice action, tall and gives it a rip.
Decent action as well. Mokgakane being the one to run through the Dolphins was not in my bingo card! The Dolphins are really missing another dynamic middle order player in LO cricket.

It's actually more drastic for Warriors and Dolphins than I thought. Be crazy if either are relegated.

Unless one of Freestate or rocks have a shocker the rest of the season I think its very likely one of them is going down. After the 4 day comp took a break in December they were 5 and 6 points behind. Looking at the lineups in the one day cup I would say warriors more likely to survive.

I feel like there are guys capable to be destructive like Jason Smith and Bryce Parsons but there isn't a Dave Miller there.

Dolphins have good depth, I'm trying to work out where you guys are falling short this season? It might just be some x-factor in the batting across formats. Considering there is a lot of experience in Erwee, Smuts, Zondo & even Smith & Ackerman.

It's quite tight in the 4-day stuff. Think the Dolphins could easily jump Boland and Knights in the table.

If Boland are continuously producing tracks like today it might be smart on their part as it brings them closer to their opponents.

Knights probably are the worst team on paper for the format so I guess them finished last here isn't out of the question.
Snyman
Cloete
Senokwane
D Hendricks
Botha
Forrester
Van Vuuren
Phangiso
Siboto
Piedt
Van Dyk

Garnett Tarr played for SA Emerging today but really he should be getting into their team I reckon.

Jordan Hermann scoring so many runs at domestic level. Is he just in that sort of form or is he really that good? I ask because if he is that good and he is finding it that 'easy' at domestic level need to get him playing at a higher level sooner rather than later. Need to challenge him to keep developing.

I like him a lot. Compact and sound. Has all the strokes. Just a run machine. He has a 150 & a 148 in limited overs cricket for Warriors & 100 in SA20 but there will be question marks about whether he is dynamic enough for white ball. He probably competes with Bavuma/De Zorzi in 50-over cricket.

Red-ball cricket he is without doubt next in line to be opener for me.

Interesting. They are playing Colts cricket but other than utilising club & University cricket, I'm not sure what else they can do for the levels below. Div 2 teams must just recruit these players then.

I think the important part here is they are being proactive. Hopefully they make right decision from looking at the issues and continue trying to improve the systems. Time will tell.

Absolutely. Good intentions for looking to improve and drive standards up.

An XI of players who missed out on selection in Div 1 over the weekend.

Obviously it looks slightly better with some players returning from Pakistan still that didn't play on the weekend (Verreynne, Mpongwana, Prince, Peters, Smith, Dala) & all the injuries (Burger, Kruger, Nortje, Dupavillon, Baartman, Ferreira, Phehlukwayo, Coetzee, Williams) currently. Bedingham on honeymoon. Plus Stolk, Tarr, Schuld & Schalk Engelbrecht played for SA-Emerging in Div 2.

These guys were either in squads or good/highly regarded players.

1. JP King
2. Muhammed Bulbulia
3. Wihan Lubbe
4. Richard Seletswane
5. Keagan Lion-Cachet
6. Oliver Whitehead
7. Juan James
8. Evan Jones
9. Tristan Luus
10. Beuran Hendricks
11. Nqaba Peter

Moe Manack
Josh van Heerden

We don't seem to produce BA players and don't seem to want to recruit either. Which is crazy when you have to have 3 in your XI.
Awiwe was a big loss also moreki , can't believe btlodi is playing 2nd division we could of used him went to lions or Titans didn't play. We recruit no one atm.

Change of head coach just before maybe friend is better as an assistant coach.

It was what I was thinking. Also maybe things have got too comfortable in the playing squad as they've been together for quite some time now. Erwee, Zondo, Smith, Miller, Ackerman, Maharaj, Subrayen, Bosch, Baartman, Dupavillon etc Phehlukwayo just left.

Smuts came in & has always been a handy domestic cricketer. They would be hoping to see van Staden, Parsons, Pillay, Simelane, Luus be their next gen+ another decent U19 group coming through now.

Moreki is the frustrating one. Given, he isn't great but he was playing regularly and the best cricket of his career. We picked him up when he was low and he leaves us for the 2nd time where you could argue he won't play regularly.

I would consider just strengthening the batting and fielding and keeping Nyaku in the team over Nabe today with Mpongwana coming back.
