**Official** Pakistan Tri-Nation Series

Is this the first Tri-Series between big international countries in some time?

I particularly enjoyed it !

I think the crowd responded to it too!

Willow Rook getting an award for being the best bowler of the series and also having the hardest name to pronounce properly in the subcontinen5,
Impressed with how he led the attack in Henry’s absence today. Used the new ball well and played the role of a strike bowler when needed in the middle overs. Bit of a hit or miss proposition in this format but positive strides all the same.

Will Young doing Will Young things.

I think the South African game might be a bit of a warning as to what to expect from the bowling, I don’t think Pakistan really did enough to put the attack under pressure, India especially might be a different story. But apart from that, great warmup and a fun little tournament. Happy for the Pakistan audience that they’re getting to see these games regularly now.
Yeah but that was the game where we didn't use Phillips or have Ravindra and the 10 each from the main 5 felt definitely like a plan to see how they fared without part time support.

My biggest concern is that outside of Henry, Duffy is our best death bowler in the squad and he had a middling at best singular outing here and didn't really get death overs

International Vice-Captain
next on the agenda - the return of the AFRICA/ASIA XI vs WORLD XI
Africa vs Asia vs Rest of World in a Tri Series bout ,

Each side must have 3 associate players in their squad of 15 , winning region gets automatic World Cup qualification for the Test nations in that region and the top ranked associate team from the region 😎

Even Latham has got an award in the presentations, this feels like junior cricket where everyone gets an award.
For what, most arsey knock that guarantees your spot for the next 12 months? That was way over and above anything Nicholls managed in terms of luck running your way to keep justifying your spot.

I will continue to ponder how professional cricketers seem to drop more easy catches than they ever did before. Another 4-5 **** ones in this game

Our first tri series trophy since 2005, I can't even remember our last tri series trophy win back then, it was probably against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
If memory serves it was Zimbabwe and India. Not sure that really counts given Zimbabwe at that point in time would've found it hard going against the Naenae CC firsts.

Was a very troubled time for Zimbabwe (which makes it no different from any time in the last 25 years I suppose, but still). After their standoff with the board a year earlier a few bigger names like Streak and Stuart Carlisle came back for these games and the tests, but the off field stuff overshadowed everything. Pretty much the last nail in the coffin for that era of ZIM players, very sad to watch.

It was a pretty good Indian side that NZ defeated, though. They too were having off field issues (mainly between new coach Chappell and captain Ganguly, who would soon be ousted). But even sans Tendulkar it was a formidable side, including MS Dhoni in his first year of international cricket.

Yeah winning games like this especially against PAK was a distant dream back in the 90s, great to see even if the format is practically irrelevant now.
Yep, the 94/95 Mandela Trophy (quadrangula tournament) was a particular low point where they got hammered in every game (derailed the tour after they had won the first test). I thought they might get up in this Sharjah Final but Pakistan's 160 proved too great. The 90's ODI side was usually competitive in bilateral series winning any kind of tournament was always a bridge too far.

Opening the bowling with Justin Vaughan and Gavin Larsen feels like the most New Zealand thing ever.
