ODI Batting Poll - Discussions

I'm not going to vote for KDub yet, but I see with his 100 yesterday he is now the 2nd fastest to 7,000 ODI runs (Amla 1st & Kohli 3rd).

With our poll drawing to a close, it's perhaps appropriate to mention the contenders for the final 3 places.
From an earlier era, Desmond Haynes and Clive Lloyd have been attracting their share of mentions. Both have similar averages (41.38 and 39.54 respectively) but Lloyd's strike rate is far better (81.72 to Haynes' 63.09).
From a more recent era, Lance Klusener and Eion Morgan have similar stats. Klusener averages 41.10 with a SR of 89.92 while Morgan's figures are 39.29 at 91.17.
Which leaves us with current players who have attracted a few votes. There is an understandable aversion for some to vote for players whose careers are still in play. Perhaps a simple look at their current average/SR might sway voters one way or the other.
Kane Williamson (49.65 @ 81.69) - Strike rate is a little low for a current player.
Joe Root (47.55 @ 86.76) - Initially regarded as a Test specialist who was unsuited to white ball games.
Quentin de Kock (45.74 @ 96.65) - has attracted votes in earlier rounds but largely overlooked since.

In my opinion, all of these players have better credentials than de Silva who is already voted in with a modest average of 34.90.

I realise, as I have said before, stats are not everything and other factors come into play - particularly the era played in.

Kumar Sangakkara deserves a mention in the top 30. Second leading run scorer...played 404 ODI...longevity...superb World Cup record

30 is too short a list and there are still so many more good ODI batsmen who are yet to get into the list. Can we proceed the poll till we get to less than 8 voters?

Roy, Bairstow, Head, Rizwan, Fakhar, Yuvraj, Raina, Dravid, Pietersen, Hayden, Dilshan, Gibbs, Gayle, Kirsten, Inzy, Kallis, Guptill, Taylor, Graeme Smith, Cullinan, Aravinda, Faf, Dhawan, Gambhir etc. are some good players on top of my mind who have not even been nominated so far. I am sure I am missing out a few in this list too.

Sounds a reasonable request. We'll keep going if we are getting sufficient voters. The 8 players I mentioned plus Sanga and those you mention make it interesting.

Sehwag, Steve Smith, Labu, Andy Flower, Rahmat Shah, Tamim. There are actually about 75-80 quality ODI batsmen I think. 100 if you include top associate batsmen like Ten Doeschate, Steve Tikolo, etc.

Williamson's strike rate is ****. Why is he getting votes?
Two world cup finals, player of the tournament in 2019 , longevity , second fastest batsmen to 7000 odi runs ever @ average just under 50 , averages 60+ in World Cups , he's always been a batsmen that can play the situation well . A worthy top 30 bat

Taylor and Aravinda were voted in I think.

Inzi, Bairstow, Pietersen, Dilshan, Gayle, Dhawan definitely unlucky. Dhawan was better than Ganguly who imo is way too high.
