My friend, just to set the record straight on Hobbs.
I concede that based on record and achievements he is right up there in contention with Sachin for no.2 of all time.
However, I think lacking a qualitative component of directly viewing him play, it is difficult to make a complete assessment of Hobbs and hence I feel Sachin is more fitting as the no.2 in light of modern era scrutiny. But I don't think even with a negative in direct viewing would I have his dropoff any lower than absolute batting top tier.
Hobbs is no.3 on my list and in my ATG XI.
Let's bury the hatchet on this one.
