Top class partnership this. Went from match being relatively level to Oz in a commanding position in less than a session.
We still need to get a lead, and considering we need to bat last on this it needs to be a pretty big one.Top class partnership this. Went from match being relatively level to Oz in a commanding position in less than a session.
Unsurprisingly because SL is barely test standard.Runs are coming way too easily
This often seems to be the case in tests in Asia these days. Even if the ball doesn't turn as much when new it behaves less predictably and comes off the surface quicker.Seems a bit of a new ball pitch, weirdly. Once the ball gets softer it gets easier to play. Same thing happened around this period yesterday for a while, though it is generally turning more today than yesterday
You'd think the SL spinners would cause more trouble on this, but they've been totally out bowled by Lyon/Kuhnemann so far.Unsurprisingly because SL is barely test standard.
The funny thing being that I thought neither of them bowled that well yesterday and they were poor today.but they've been totally out bowled by Lyon/Kuhnemann so far.
They nearly made the WTC final. Better than England.Unsurprisingly because SL is barely test standard.
Yep. Exactly. All this series is - a stat paddling excercise for the Aussie batters and bowlers.Basically at minnow levels in all formats bar t20
Actually below England now in the WTC Table, and miles below if you take out over rate penalties. They nearly made the WTC final. Better than England.
much stronger opposition tbfBut I thought they played some decent cricket when they Toured England last Summer, they're not showing it now.
They're part of the game though. It's unfair on the opposition that your bowlers are getting a good rest by only bowling 78 overs in a day and the batsmen lose their rhythm with all the conferencing, plus the field settings are theoretically better by ignoring the time constraints other teams try to meet.and miles below if you take out over rate penalties.
More to the point, I think it's that they're usually bowling 81-82 km/h whereas Lyon and Kuhnemann are almost always over 86 km/h, often low 90s. Our batsmen would much less comfortable playing the sweep and reverse sweep if they were bowling faster (see, for example, the sweepathon collapse against Jadeja in 2023.)You'd think the SL spinners would cause more trouble on this, but they've been totally out bowled by Lyon/Kuhnemann so far.
Missing leg, or umps call at bestThis is out imo
