Were the fairways always that wide and firm? Turned into a pitch and putt comp.
Fairways will always be hard as it’s built on reclaimed land and sand underneath is compacted for stability

Main difference is that areas around greens were cut short and no wind

Patrick Reed shot 59 in the Hong Kong Open today

Cam Smith and Elvis Smylie are co-leaders going into the last round of the Australian PGA

Smylie is rated by some as the the next top Australian player so would be good to see him play well

Also in contention is Aldrich Potgieter who was born in SA but grew up in Western Australia so we’ll claim him

Only 20, he won the the British Amateur at 17 and won on Korn Ferry this year so is obviously very good but I had never heard of him until today

Smylie wins Oz PGA

Huge for the young man and potentially Australian golf as he’s really good

Inevitable...Rory will be the next high profile golfer to join LIV especially now that Norman has been sidelined.

European Tour’s deal with the PGA Tour is terrible and it’s not as if they have any objection to taking money from ME autocrats

Finau LIV-bound?
Starting to look like it. His form has dropped and he no longer seems a potential Major Winner, so the perfect match to grab a load of Middle East cash.

Rumours of a bigger name too, but not sure who....

Yeah makes sense. Still think Rory will jump ship soon...I can see him playing a mix of the DPWT and LIV next year. With the potential alliance between those two tours, LIV players can maintain their OWGR better, be more eligible for the majors etc. Sidelining Norman may have been an effort to sweeten the pot for him...

Rory won't be going to LIV. I think he rather enjoyed him and Scheffler giving a dusting to the Koepka/DeChambeau pairing yesterday.

Pro golf is off to a great start in ‘25

LIV signed a deal with Fox Sports but it’s credibility is in the toilet after basically scrapping the qualifying process

PGAT events have been rubbish with poor standard fields, ratings and easy courses

Tiger’s sim game thing is terrible

DPWT seems to be taking advantage (if only by default)

Same happens every year. I think the TGL might be ok, they’ve just had 2 one sided matches.

A shame to see the Genesis being moved from Riviera, but understandable. One of the best courses they play.

Rory very rusty in Dubai, but still looks likely to get a Top 10. Shocking 2nd round from Rahm who remains a mess.

Can't say the PGA Tour didn't deliver over the weekend. Pebble Beach remains the most stunning golf course I've ever visited (and one day hopefully will play). On a course that shouldn't really suit McIlroy, he managed to make it work. Looks in a better place than last year and if he continues to improve his wedges is going to have a major say in at least 2 of the Majors where the courses will suit. GB and Ireland in Top 3 was impressive, so many top Americans seem off their game at the mo. Although, Scheffler lurking in his first tournament back from injury looks ominous for the next few weeks.

I've been noticing it a while but got properly called out yesterday was just how slow Tom Kim is. Seems a likeable fella, but he's got to sort this out as it's painful to watch.

Haven’t watched any of it but the first 2 LIV events have achieved big TV ratings

People will watch anything as long as it’s accessible

Scheffler just needs the Lord back on his bag.

That is seemingly exactly not what's happening. Loads of people turned up in Adelaide to watch, but literally no one watched any kind of TV feed anywhere else. And yes, there are real numbers to support this. I see DataGolf (which ignores World Rankings) now reckons just 5 of the top 50 golfer are on LIV.

It's not helped by the hours of broadcast, but that's hardly the main issue. It is now broadcast free to air in the UK, some of it on the ITV app, some on a main channel. Got to be honest, I still can't see many people watching here, no one is interested in LIV. I'm wondering how much LIV paid for ITV to broadcast it?

Meanwhile, in the real golfing world, great to see Ludvig win a big one. His ball striking was superb, hardly a great surprise he got over the line here. A big threat in the Majors. Scheffler still not quite 100% whilst Rory's putter went colder than an eskimo over the weekend.
