Which team would win

In which way aus pacers are better then wi attack. Only mcgarth is successful all over world. Lillee and miller would struggle in Kolkata and Bridgetown
Miller is a bad choice frankly at 8. He either bats at 6, or doesn't plays. I would go with his team mate Lindwall. Ambrose is also not proven like Lillee though. I will say:
Marshall ~ McGrath
Ambrose > Lillee
Holding ~ Lindwall

It's WI but I think is close enough really.

Kallis got out to Warne more than any other bowler, 7 times. Dravid got out to Warne more than any other bowler, 8 times. Sanga got out to Warne 4 times in 5 games. Mahela 4 times in 8 games. ABdV 4 times in 6 games. Inzi 5 times in 11 games. And they all didn't have particularly good numbers in games Warne featured in.

And here's the biggest thing: Warne got them all out far more frequently and more often than McGrath did.

So, what exactly are we basing this whole thing on? Because Lara and Sachin smashed him around, we automatically assume other great batsmen of other eras would easily have done the same. GTFO. I don't buy it.

Sobers would. He handled great leg spinners like gupte, chandra and underwood and so can viv
There is absolutely no guarantee, I'm sorry. Most great players of spin of that era did not "neutralize" Warne. Viv and Sobers were amazing but Warne is levels above any spinner they faced, so the idea that they'd have handled him easily is fanciful.

We are just playing one match in india only place Ambrose didn't play. He has great record everywhere else

I genuinely dont understand how @kyear2 and @subshakerz have conned some people into believing this nonsense than Warne and Murali would be dominated by ATG batsmen of the past. It's an assumption pulled out of their backsides and ignores all the great batsmen Warne had success against. Just silliness.

For all we know Viv and Sobers could've found them really hard to play. It's way more likely imo than Warne/Murali being completely blunted afaic.

Is Viv definitely a better player of spin than Mahela, Kallis, Sanga, etc? I'm really not sure. I'd say no honestly. Better overall batsman of course. Specifically against spin, not particularly.
We dont know about viv ability because after bedi and Chandra's retirement in 79 there was no world class spinner till warne debut 92. Viv played chandra and bedi extremely well and anyway we are playing just one match in sc.rest of matches are in leeds joburg, perth and Bridgetown. Wont matter if viv fails in one match

@subshakerz @kyear2 Try and respond to this. Interested if you'll acknowledge how this actually goes against the whole "McGrath was way better vs the great batsmen than Warne" thing too. Statistically, Warne seems to have a bit of an edge tbh.

Australia wins 3-2. Wi funny enough i favor to win in Perth and Barbados. Probably lose the rest. On a spinning track due to Warne and otherwise because it's tough to make up the batting difference Bradman creates and on top of that, Australia also has Gilchrist. Unfair really lol lol.

A few pages back, people were making conclusions about Greenidge based on his record vs contemporary Australia. Therefore i think it's only fair to do the same with Warne.

Quite frankly, we were never ever fearful of Warne vs WI the same way we were vs a Lillee or McGrath and the proof is there in the pudding. Warne was decent vs contemporary WI sides who don't remotely compare to 80s lineups, much less an atg lineup.

Anyway, with Bradman Aus likely wins 3-2. Without, probably the reverse.

Kallis also played something like 16/17 games against Warne, and I don't recall it being one-sided. Dravid was Warnes bunny but he isn't rated a great player of spin anyways. Sanga and ABD were early career. Inzi fair enough he did struggle.

None of them had the wood over McGrath too and most struggled.

Several other bats had the wood against Warne though. Malik. Sidhu. Laxman. Anwar. KP. All good players of spin. How many bats had the wood over McGrath?

That's not the argument in this ATG scenario. It's just that Warne is more pitch dependent, more innings dependent and less likely to do the same damage as ATG pacers against ATG bats who are quality players of spin.

Warne averages 27 in the first innings. 28 in the second innings. You don't think that he might find it harder against an entire lineup of quality bats to do significant damage before the pitch gets weary enough?
