2024–25 NZ domestic season

Why the hell did Jeet have a massive black wig on at the toss? Are we throwing back 20 years to the first ever T20I? Jeet ain't the guy to carry off that sort of malarkey...

Considering the ridiculous depth of the Canterbury bowling attack and relatively decent batting lineup, what would a rest of NZ XI look like? Bearing in mind you can only use legit current SS players, with guns for hire out elsewhere like Conway and Williamson not eligible.
Based on this year's smash

K Clarke
J Boyle
M Boyle
R O'Donnell
Br00ce
Abbas
J McKenzie
Tickner
Ferns
Hazeldine
Gulati (only 2 games but like the cut of his jib)

Unluggy - D Phillips - good intent at the top but hasn't converted
Delport - where tf did he go? injured? absolute gun.
Ashok - good comeback after a bad start

Dropped. I presume, at least. Only played a handful of games this season outside of the one-dayers.
Looks like they want to 'bat deep' and pretend Will O'Donnell is a spinner, and played Riley Mudford (who I think is a wicketkeeper bat) as a specialist bat at 8. Pretty harsh on a guy like Delport who took 14 wickets at 17s last year and 7 an over.

Good team but needs Chu & Lockrose

Robinson
Ravindra
Chapman
Bruce
Jacobs
Bracewell
Chu
Santner
Ferns
Sears
Duffy

Only position I needed to give thought to was Ferns, where I don't think the 'returning blackcap' N Smith is particularly good in this format.
The other 10 kind of pick themselves.

Robbie O lucky to get a spot for a 73*, albeit a match-winning one. Jacobs?

Tim Robinson unlucky, looked a class above.

Needs a keeper too, although none of them have been particularly good or consistent. Chu the best as a finisher.

With M Boyle being the only non-blackcap in the Canterbury 11 (and with Shipley 12th man). Question is would Henry Nicholls oust him if he was recovered from injury? (He would have at the start of the competition/season, but would he still now?). This post is not to slag off Nicholls' prowess at T20 at this level, but more 'point-and-see' at how ridiculously stacked a Canterbury top 11 is.

Keep Boyle.
Nicholls for Latham imo

Like Latham and Mitchell, Nicholls has a fabulous Super Smash record so he'd surely slot in somewhere. I don't think they'd devolve to dropping the 22yo top runscorer, especially given he scores them at a good clip. It's very fun trying to guess who he replaces though lol. Bowes or Hay, I think – but maybe O'Rourke.

I tried to keep it to players who haven't played for NZ yet or if they have are zero hope of returning to internationals. Robbie O was a bit of a vibes pick, looks like the epitome of a high quality domestic stalwart who'll always deliver when you need it but never be considered for higher honours.

Bloody hard one - Nicholls was the top scorer in the comp in 2023-24, and undoubtedly has the quality at domestic level. But gee, MBoyle has been good to watch.

That whole Canterbury team has mid 90s vibes when basically all of them were NZ internationals.
