The way brook batted in last two tests vs pak and this series suggests he might struggle in sub continental pitches except on roads
And awful batting, so many cheap wickets.Wow one of best t20is which had everything with good spin bowling in first innings and god fast bowling in second on excellent pitch
all the eng batters even Root are road players. They cash out big on the Roads whereas other teams dont. The way brook batted in last two tests vs pak and this series suggests he might struggle in sub continental pitches except on roads
Hello from Chennai. Been in India for nearly two weeks and got down here on Friday. I had been touring in the countryside about 100 or so miles from Mumbai until then. Got across and found out that to book a ticket you needed to visit a website called ‘District by Zomato’. No issues booking it and £26 wasn’t breaking the bank compared to some daft websites I had tried. My second ever international t20 after watching an England team including Ian Bell predictably lose to Sri Lanka in 2014 at the Oval. And awful batting, so many cheap wickets.
If England are going to persist with this balance, the batsmen need to stop giving it away.
Hope you have fun mate. Lot of great places to see around the state and even around Chennai.Hello from Chennai. Been in India for nearly two weeks and got down here on Friday. I was pessimistic about England’s chances, having watched the daft display on Wednesday and that it was strikingly clear that England are two batters short, with Salt looking short of true international class and Overton being a hack with the bat and not being overly used with the ball.
I got down to the ground about an hour ahead of the game and realised that the ground looked a whole lot different to the last time I was here for the 2008 test with Sehwag et al. I hoped that England would win the toss and bowl, but no such look. Then, very quickly the openers departed with idiotic shots. I was thinking I might be back at the hotel bar by 9pm, especially as the specialist batting got going with a few shots and then got themselves out so quickly leaving the tail with lots to do. However, many of them played their part, especially Carse, although what Archer was doing with that second run I don’t know. It never looked that 165 would be enough but the pace of England’s first three bowlers created chances and errors from the Indian batters. There looked at intervals that England might get the vital wicket, but then would come a flurry of boundaries. That Rashid drop certainly swayed the game that bit more.
To see Archer take the punishment he did was quite something. However, the bottom line is that England’s balance needs to be looked at in the batting with personnel changes and a possible extra spinner over here. Off further south around Tamil Nadu state before flying back to Mumbai and on to London on Friday.
a top temperature of 29 degrees was at odds with the 33 degrees or so in Mumbai the other day. Have been around town today, including the fort as well as temples and St Thomas’s tomb. Heading to Pondicherry as well as Kanchipuram. The match and me being around for it was more fortunate timing. It became a must do when I realised England were here. I have to say I wasn’t really aware of the schedule until after I had booked my flight to India! I should say there are many players I hadn’t watched live before this game.Hope you have fun mate. This has been our coldest winter in eons btw, so you chose a good time to come. 25 C is ****ing cold here in the great city of the south.
Rashid is still performing well but I'm amazed that England rarely try to take a look at other options. If Rash suddenly gets an injury before a tournament who'd be next in line? Mason Crane doesn't get mentioned these days but at least has a lot of experience in this format. An extra spinner is obviously required. Not sure why England are persisting with lone spinner on India pitches. No confidence in young Rehan?
Haha I live pretty close to the mount. How long are you here?a top temperature of 29 degrees was at odds with the 33 degrees or so in Mumbai the other day.
