I mean, whom would you suggest?? Personally will have Hazlewood for Atkinson (also Rabada before that for Henry, another player whose team is in the Finals with zero players), but can't think of anyone else really. The number of Pommies is a little concerning, but hardly any is a bad choice.Wow, Australia hold the WTC as best test team and are in the final of this year's WTC, but not a single Aussie player made the Wisden test team of the year, really?
Wisden’s Test Team of 2024: 1. Yashasvi Jaiswal, 2. Ben Duckett, 3. Kane Williamson, 4. Joe Root, 5. Harry Brook, 6. Kamindu Mendis, 7. Jamie Smith (wk), 8. Ravindra Jadeja, 9. Gus Atkinson, 10. Matt Henry, 11. Jasprit Bumrah (c).
I think it's a great side statistically but it's not a true reflection of the WTC and how it panned out ..And I think when you make a team of the year and there is such a competition it should reflect that ..Wow, Australia hold the WTC as best test team and are in the final of this year's WTC, but not a single Aussie player made the Wisden test team of the year, really?

I agree, but SA is also playing the Final (and their batting is mid). Is it right to discard runs against them despite them making the Final, from a point of making of taking WTC seriously??I think it's a great side statistically but it's not a true reflection of the WTC and how it panned out ..And I think when you make a team of the year and there is such a competition it should reflect that ..
I would drop Atkinson for Cummins , who would be the captain of the side , Verreynne for Jamie Smith think some if his knocks were really valuable to SA making the final and his keeping was excellent, and I'd move Joe Root to No.3 (He did get that double hundred in Pakistan batting at no.3) and I'd play Bavuma ahead of Williamson, a lot of Williamson's runs were against a weak SA attack and a dead rubber vs England
I'm not discarding Williamson's runs , I'm saying his record isn't as impressive as it looks on paper and I'd much prefer Bavuma who scored tough runs and held together one of the worst batting line ups in Sa history.I agree, but SA is also playing the Final (and their batting is mid). You realise Pooran is the captain? lolthis is so mega out, and i am half convinced banton called him back because he's afraid of validating the bairstow dismissal (even though this was so much more out than bairstow, which was also out tbf)
100 million %Umpires cheated in that one. Too scared to give the final wicket LBW @Fuller Pilch
It’s kind of analogous to the Bairstow dismissal because in each case the batsman has wandered off before the ball is dead and in both cases the keeper has looked to effect the dismissal immediately.this is so mega out, and i am half convinced banton called him back because he's afraid of validating the bairstow dismissal (even though this was so much more out than bairstow, which was also out tbf)
This is like calling back Kohli when he nicks one driving outside off because you feel a little bit sorry for him.It was obviously out, but Banton is playing within the spirit of the game to call Curran back. Well done.
This one is way different in that Curran walked out of his crease before the ball was received by the keeper. Is definitely out and he never should have been called backIt’s kind of analogous to the Bairstow dismissal because in each case the batsman has wandered off before the ball is dead and in both cases the keeper has looked to effect the dismissal immediately.
ah sorry the comms said banton called him back which is why i thought it was his doingYou realise Pooran is the captain? lol
